Imogen Heap Writing New Material For Next Album British singer/songwriter Imogen Heap has spent the last little while in Hawaii, Fiji and Tasmania writing material for her next album, the follow-up to 2005's critically acclaimed Speak For Yourself. "The plan for writing this album is to get the songs done first," Heap wrote in a blog on her website. "Then do the fun geeking out bit when I get back." According to a series of detailed posts, Heap has a handful of songs completed, including one with the working title of "Jelly Legs." The song was inspired by various sounds that Heap recorded while at a gorge in Tasmania, including the sound of possums and pedestrian crossings. "The verse is basically about seeing things in the shadows, monsters under the bed, that type of thing," she wrote. "It's really quite frantic sounding." Other songs with working titles include "Click Joy," "Swoon" and "Polyfiller." Heap said "Polyfiller" comes from a melody that she had in her head for six months and toyed with during her last U.S. tour. Another track called "Little Bird" is described as having a "nursery rhyme style of writing." Heap also composed a tune titled "Wait It Out" for an upcoming motion picture being directed by Zach Braff that will feature the lead character singing the song. As a member of Frou Frou, Heap performed "Let Go" on the soundtrack to Garden State, which also featured Braff. Heap has posted a few new songs online, including a live version of "Just For Now," which was recorded at a Los Angeles radio station last September. Another live version of the same song, from a "Live Lounge In Toronto" iTunes session, is available through iTunes. |
