Having seen Immi on the Ellipse tour twice this year, Manchester Academy and the Royal Albert Hall, I was inspired to try and create a model of the tree that takes centre stage. When I discovered that one of the T-shirt designs uses the tree logo, I bought myself one at the London show and used that as the pattern from which to start making my model.
I created the 3D model in a program called Blender and then exported the STL file to a 3D laser printing service called Shapeways in Holland.
http://www.shapeways.com/model/176232/imogen_heap_tree.html
The model is printed in the nylon based material that they call White, Strong and Flexible, and is really quite robust. Total cost about £16. I added a small battery, a tiny magnetic switch and a multi-colour LED to give a nice mood lighting effect.
There is a short video showing the model with the lighting here.
Let me know what you think, either here or with a comment on my Shapeways page. |

It's 10cm high (about 4 inches) and 12cm across.
I deliberately chose a size that would be printable and yet affordable. 3D printing is a relatively new technology and the cost goes up in proportion to the volume of material used. A model that was twice as tall would cost eight times as much!
Follow the Shapeways link for more details on the model and how to get one.
Thanks for your interest and comments. |

Make sure you dont get a lawsuit raping you for copyright, someone somewhere will have copyrighted that and you reproducing it will cause conflict.
Wouldnt have to have a 2D picture of it by any chance i could use ? |

Wonderful model! That tree always reminds me of some books we go when I was a kid called "Tree Of Knowledge". The logo looked almost exactly the same. |

Now that home 3D printers are becoming more ubiquitous, I have redesigned the tree and published the design files here on Thingiverse.
Now anyone with access to a basic 3D printer can make their own copy.
My original copy on the left; my home printed version on the right.
