A while ago Immi lent her vocals to a track called "P.I.N." on J. Peter Schwalm's new project, Musikain. It's now available for download on most international iTunes Music Stores. Click here to go the page on iTunes USA.

"J. Peter Schwalm?" With that name, I'd buy it even if Immi weren't a part of it! That's an awesome name! (I hope it's his real one and not a stage name.)

I just d/l this track off iTunes.....wow! It's friggin' HOT. A really nice irregular beat, and very atmospheric, yet simple!

If you like the beats/music of this song, you should check out The Books. It sounds alot like the Books....especially their album Lost and Safe. Prefuse reads the Books by Prefuse 73 is great also....an instrumental hip hop remixing of the Books. You know, if you're into that sort of thing.

Though I have everything iTunes has to offer from Immi already,

I love this song! I've been trying to figure out the lyrics but I can't make them all out. I'm also very good at mishearing lyrics... Wink Maybe someone who is a native English speaker could have a go at it and help me fill in the gaps?

Anyway, here's what I've got so far:

Post-it note on the window
(tashes, tashes)
this is where you'll find me
(arrow, arrow, kiss, kiss, kiss)
?????
surround you

Just throw it in
Might catch the next one over
(??? , ?wanting?)
it's to no complications
(passport, ?doldrum?, don't panic)

And I'll be right behind you
And I'll be right behind you

Coming through
Get out of my way

Running to never be alone again
Wait for me there, wait for me there

Out of my way
Get out of my way

Which way?
Passing train
Mustn't miss it now, not again

Congratulations on a very good effort! I love this song, but I find it difficult to make out all the words.

I suggest a few changes to your version:

Quote:
Post-it note on the window
(dashes, dashes)
this is where you'll find me
(arrow, arrow, kiss, kiss, kiss)
Saturn runs rings around you
Saturn runs rings around you

Just throw it in
Might catch the next one over
(??? , wanting)
Here's to no complications
(passport, ?tantrum?, don't panic)

And I'll be right behind you
And I'll be right behind you

Coming through
Get out of my way

Running to never be alone again
Wait for me there, wait for me there

Out of my way
Get out of my way

Which way?
Concentrate
Mustn't miss it now, not again

I'm pretty sure about the line 'Saturn runs rings around you' - it might sound odd, but it's clever - Saturn is the planet with rings, and 'running rings around' someone is an English expression for making someone look slow or foolish.

To be honest, it's one of those songs that just sound so gorgeous I don't really care about the words. But now that you got me thinking about it, the song seems to be describing a situation where Immi is starting a journey to meet a lover. She has a post-it note on the window to remind her of things to do, she is hurrying to pack her case ('throw it in'), checking that she has her passport, rushing to catch her plane ('coming through, get out of my way'), and worrying about missing it ('mustn't miss it now, not again').

Thank you David! Now it looks better.

Quote:
(dashes, dashes)

Haha yeah I thought that it would be a bit odd if that lyric actually was tashes! Doesn't really fit in with the rest, and it's a really weird word to put in a song! Laughing Dashes it is, of course!

Oh! That is indeed very clever. It makes sense, thanks for clearing that bit up, David!

I don't pay much attention to lyrics the first time I listen to a song, but as it grows on me I start to feel an urge to unveil the mystery of that song... and interpret the lyrics. Much like you, I think it's some sort of journey that she is embarking on to find someone. He has left a post-it note on her window describing where he has gone, and then she is trying to find him. Maybe that's why I first heard passing train instead of concentrate, because my brain was absolutely convinced that the song had something to to with travelling.

Yes, the post-it note might be left by the man - or it might be a reminder note by Immi to herself.

The title P.I.N. presumably refers to the post-it note, though I don't think I've heard them called P.I.N.s, and PIN usually stands for Personal Identification Number (for credit cards etc.)

Another English expression for a post-it note is a 'sticky' - the 'windswept yellow stickies of my mind' in 'Between Sheets' are the mental notes she has made to do various tasks.

"P.I.N." is a more mysterious title than "Post-it note", and one might wonder why they chose to name it like that. I mean, they could have just named it "Post-it note", couldn't they? This is what leads me to think that maybe it has some other meaning as well, a meaning which is known only to Imogen herself and J Peter Schwalm. A sort of secret allusion to something. Who knows?
