Hey all

God im soo glad i got into immi. Her music is amazing, and SFY was easily the best album i bought last year. And it was all down to me hearing Hide and Seak in the final episode of the OC. Right onto my question:

I have read the threads about purchasing imeg from HMV.co.jp, and it seems to work out at about £18, which is much better than the ebay prices (whenever the odd one comes up). The only problem i can see is customs, as i read in another thread about someone being charged £16 ontop of the £20 for the cd. Should i risk buying from japan, or should i try to get one off ebay for ~£30-£35???

One last thing. Can't wait to see immi on the 6th april a
@ the social in nottingham. Tiny venue for a only a few hundred people, so it should be absolutely amazing Very Happy

I would advice you to use HMV instead of ebay. I personally didn't get charged any extra money plus you never know how high the prices will get on ebay.

Fab album - been on continuous play pretty much since last week when I got it. Different from S4Y but still fantastic

Definitely go with HMV. Unless they mark it as some sort of business purchase or something, you shouldn't have to pay customs. Granted I'm in the US, but I can't imagine things are that different. Even if it ends up being more expensive, the Japanese version is completely worth it for the extra tracks. The packaging is really great as well. <3 (If I'm not mistaken, I think some versions might have a sticker included.)

Better yet, if you know anyone going to Japan in the near future, have them stop by used CD stores. That's where I found mine. (For only about 1200 yen, which works out to about £6. I envy the strong pound!)

Indeed, Randy Jackson was best known as a bass player prior to his American Idol fame. I'd be curious to know how he came to play on the album. Was he simply an available freelance/studio player at the time, or did Immi specifically seek him out?

yeah, i knew ol' randy was a well-known bassist, i just thought he tended to wear lots of spandex. interesting and unexpected to see him on an immi album!

Thanks for the reassurance everyone.

Il order it from HMV japan tomorow. I only have crappy downloaded versions, which sound poor out of my sweet hi-fi. Plus im modifying my cd player over the next sweet, so Immi's old skool imeg should sound amazing when i get it.

I can't wait to hear aeroplane either, and the gig in notts on the 6th april will be truly breathtaking. Right back to my uni coursework Sad

Good Afternoon "pansygrl"
Once you get your head around iMeg, please let me know which songs you like the best. I don't have iMeg, but have a few songs from it.
Just kinda wanna know what other songs I should be endeavouring to hear.
(If that makes any sense ??)
Thanks pretty lady

Hey Mike P.!
I don't think I've fully got my head around iMeg yet, but I can tell you that so far I'm digging Aeroplane(which is only on the Japanese release), Getting Scared, Useless, Angry Angel and Come Here Boy (which I've already heard a million times!). I hope you have the chance to get the CD yourself, it is definitely worth it!

Sorry if this seems daft, but when I try the HMV Japan site, it all comes up with Japanese script, so I have no idea how to order it!

Is there a secret button I need to press, do I need to go to it whilst near a Tardis (for automatic tranlating purposes), or could someone post a link to a foolproof site?

Cheers!

Very Happy Hi Tiff! Very Happy

Top left hand corner, under the HMV logo is the word "English" - it will take you to the English language version. You're not alone in not spotting it, I was looking for it for ages!

Many thanks for the advice regarding HMV Japan. It all went smoothly. I almost paid mega-bucks for a used copy from Amazon.

This is where the forum works really well.

I saw this thread a little while ago, when I was looking for the Japn. release, but when I got to the site, I was thrown off by all of the prices in Yen. Since I didn't have any Yen, nor did I see any options to pay in other currency, I dejectedly navigated away from the site, (after some mild cursing,) to other sites with outrageous price tags, and then gave up.

Fortunately, I decided tonight to give it another, more thorough look this evening, and I found, in the surprisingly detailed Help/FAQ section, that although all transactions must be in Yen, overseas customers could still use credit cards to pay for purchases. I thought, well I've never used my credit card to make a Yen purchase before, but I guess it could work...
So I created the account and put in my numbers, and when the "order confirmed" screen came up, I'm pretty sure I squealed like a little school girl. I mean school boy.
Shocked A 21 year old school boy. Um.
...
Actually, it was a very manly, deep-voiced squeal.
Followed by some high-pitched giggling. Yeah. We'll go with that.

So anyway, I have my fingers crossed about all that, but I also decided I wanted to mention what I figured out the prices to be. Shipping seems a little expensive just for a CD, but it's a flat rate for all their stuff apparently, and compared to the alternative options, it seems only fair--it's just the difference between buying a regular priced CD and buying a really special CD, like a collector's edition (which this sort of is!)
Here's the link to a table of shipping charges: http://www.hmv.co.jp/help/index.asp?q=024003002 (in Yen)

I calculated the prices out into US dollars: the album is about $19, and shipping to North America is about $10.50, whereas to the UK is a little more, about 7 pounds.

(I used the Google Currency Calculator, which I just discovered...very cool!)

Hooray!! Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy

hSH: just wait until the postman walks it to your door...talk about squealing like a 21 year-old school boy! and just wait until you listen to it for the first time. i've had my copy for almost a month now and am still listening to it almost non-stop. i feel like crap for missing i-meg all these years.

Please mail me off list for details. robert32@orange.net

i'm wondering if it has arrived yet too! you wait til you get that package...ooh it is so exciting. i also thought it was exciting making an overseas purchase. i had never done that before either. i too was disappointed that i had missed out on iMeg for so long but then i thought of it as new immi stuff that i hadn't heard yet that could help hold me over until new new immi stuff came out. haha i tried to make it a positive thing.
at any rate, i can't wait for you to get your copy of iMeg hSH!
