I saw Immi here with the Hotel Cafe tour and thought she was magnificent. I didn't know she could be even better. Her voice was definitely "on" and there were only a few glitches that made the whole thing more personal. Zoe Keating was amazing when she played with Immi. Her playing added a great layer to Immi's sound. The crowd was great-- I was standing behind 5 or 6 chubby guys with buzz cuts and beards. I never would have guessed them for Immi fans, but they were into her as much as I am, so I guess they can't be rednecks! Her renditions of Hide and Seek, Come Here Boy, and especially It's Good To Be in Love were my favorites. I have to see her again!!!!

it was an amazing show.. my first immi experience live....

faves of the night were cant take it in... omg i got soo many chills.. the moment i said it.. was gorgeous.. she forgot a note during the first verse and started again.. it was really cute.... she has soo much personality and her "mistakes" make her sooo much more enjoyable...

loose ends was really good.... im not a huge fan of the studio version of it.. its good, but not a fave.. but it was definitely a high light of mine played live tonight.. come here boy was of course magically... i was really excited to see the piano on stage when i walked to the main floor.. im a huge tori fan sooo any chance i get to hear piano makes me happy..

only complaint was the crowd.. lame, not fun, they all just stood there.. and bitched when people wanted to move in the front.. its a live show... general admission.. if you cant handle it, go in the back.. ive been going to shows for awhile now, and its just normal behavior and is to be expected... ok im done ranting..

great performance.. fun and adorable... cant wait to see her again...

Well, that was my first Immi gig and it was rather nice....she's quite a character.

I hung around afterwards and watched as she signed t-shirts, cd's and naked bellies for the fans.

Who was the guy that came out afterwards with her? Boyfriend? Husband?

Very Happy

This was also my first Immi show and, like everyone here, I found her to be amazing! Her voice was so strong and beautiful, and the sound system let every bit of it come through with sparkling clarity. Her synths and mbira also had wonderful presence. The bass was astonishingly deep and tight. Each take on her songs was a terrific variation on her studio version. I was also glad that Immi didn't try to blow out everyone's ears; the sound level was very reasonable.

Before the show I wondered if I should stand for 3 hours in the pit or sit upstairs in the balcony. I'm glad I chose upstairs because first, I got a seat, and second, I was able to prop my camera on the railing, allowing me to get very steady shots, and third, I got an above and to the right perspective that I had never shot from before. Here are a few shots:

Some more are here. Many more to come soon.

I had a great time and hope she comes back soon!

What camera is that?

I think I saw you at the end of the gig...did you have a fill in / extra flash attached on top of your rig?

Wow! That's a nice set of photos! Your camera must be uber-professional. Probably some of the best live photos i've seen

It was my first Immi show as well, and she was amazing. Her voice is easily as gorgeous live, if not more so. What really struck me though was her personality, very genuine, and genuinely funny hehe. Completely adorable. Favorite songs of the night were Can't Take It In, and Daylight Robbery.

Thanks, everyone! I've got more where these came from and will post them soon.

Travellerman, yep, that was me. People started throwing their email addresses at me because they saw that I had a "nice" camera and they wanted copies of the photos!

My camera is a Canon Digital Rebel (the first version, not the XT) with a 70-200mm F2.8 L lens. So AdamB, the camera isn't uber, and in Canon's view, is hardly professional: It's their entry-level digital SLR. However, the 70-200 is totally professional, one of the best lens that Canon makes, and it helps a lot towards getting quality photos. Also, as I've mentioned, I rested my camera on the balcony rail, so I could shoot at 1/60s to 1/80s with minimal shake.

I also shoot in RAW format, which is similar to a film negative. I then "develop" the RAW file using software. This way I can make my own color, exposure, contrast, and sharpening decisions instead of having the camera do it automatically. (automatically wrong most of the time, that is!) All other cameras shoot RAW also, but most of the point-and-shoots convert them to JPGs in-camera and don't give you access to the RAW data.

You can check out more of my concert photos in the Concerts section, including some 10 galleries of my favorite singer, Vienna Teng.

not to get too off-topic, but is it the Image Stabilizer lens or not?

because damn - THAT one is a $1500-$1700 lens! Shocked

Nah, no IS, and I also got it used, so it was only $750. A used IS holds its value very well, and sells for around $1400, which was too rich for me at the time. But recently I feel I should've splurged on the IS, since it would've been very useful in much of my photography.

Klaorman...thanks for the info. I just use the usual settings on my fuji, though I have started to bracket the shots and choose the best option...still along way to go though.

Would you care to have a look at my website? www.travellerman.com I would be grateful for your opinions as to my shots that I have taken on my travels. Most are digital uploaded, though a few are simply scans from my (basic) Nikon F65.

I'd be grateful for any input from you seeing as you obviously know your stuff and are miles better than I.

Thanks....Stephen

Thanks To Klaorman for the Brilliant pic's!
We've All Had A Bumpy Ride, I'm Secretly On Your Side!
That Line has been going through my mind all night.
From the first song to the last her performance was striking. Intrancing, intoxicating, and indearing she glowed throughout the night.
The hightlights of the evening for me were; "Just For Now", "Let Go", "Can't Take It In", "Come Here Boy", "Hide & Seek", "Have You Got It In You", "Good To Be In Love", and "Moment I Said It".

The set List for the evening was

Just For Now
Goodnight and Go
The Walk
Let Go
Loose Ends
Can't Take It In
Clear the Area
Headlock
Come Here Boy
Hide And Seek
Have You Got It In You
Good To Be In Love
Daylight Robbery
Moment I Said It

It couldn't be any more Beautiful! I can't take it in!
I'll never forget this beautiful evening, Thanks Imogen!!

I really hope that Immi plays "Can't Take It In" during her UK tour (Bristol), because I really wanna hear that song live!

If anyone has a short vid of her performing that song, would they be able to send me it?

Oooh is Zoe supporting Immi on her UK tour? Is it just Zoe that is supporting then?

Was that featured in the sneaky newsletter which managed to sneak its way to your inbox? Any other interesting announcements in the newsletter other than the Goodnight & Go single?

Um well i heard about the Zoe thing on another show review, someone said that Immi had announced Zoe would be supporting her in the UK, either that or i wished for it so much i thought it was true Confused Razz But on the newsletter there was just about the hide and seek single really and then just about the new RSS news feed and going over the tour dates, those which were sold out and places that were selling fast. My first Immi concert too. I found her simply amazing...her voice was stunning, and her stage presence charming beyond words. I was already a Zoe Keating fan and have been to several of her solo and Rasputina shows. What more could I have asked for than both of them to be together?

Thanks again, everyone! I've cleaned up the bit of noise/grain in the original set and added a lot more new photos. Take a look at them here. I usually don't post blurry photos, but Immi's occasional dancing was so fun and infectious that I had to include them!

Enjoy!
