A valued member of the Imogen team, Ryan Obermeyer, has recently suffered tragedy when his cat and sidekick (Obie) was hit by a car last night. Obie survived but has a broken pelvis and has several pieces of bone severed completely.
Obie is in much pain right now and, of course, will be recieving the best treatment Ryan can find. This surgery however, is quite expensive ... so if you feel inclined, a modest monitary donotion to her recovery fund would be immensely appreciated.
If you are willing and able to make a donation to help supplement the cost of her surgery you can make a PAYPAL donation to: ryanobermeyer@gmail.com with "operation obie" in the message. He will also be hosting an auction on her behalf soon.
Ryan will keep us posted on Obie's progress, but feel free to send them both lots of love and good vibes - every little bit helps!! |

It's so hard when a beloved pet is hurt like this. My sweet puppy was hit by a car a few years ago and it was a miserable experience all around. He recovered with time and careful treatment, but it certainly wasn't cheap.
I hope tomorrow's surgery goes well and that the little darling comes through with an uneventful recovery. |

I have personal reasons why I'm helping with this, and it isn't because I've had pets knocked over (why do you think my current cat only has 3 legs hu?). Really trying to not cry at the moment. Hope Obie gets better soon.
----
Ok - to make me feel 'better' I'm going to explain what I'm going on about. Just helps me to let things out you know? Something that I suck at in real-life!
Basically, I was in ethiopia for 3 months. While there I was working on a charity project called IHAUDP, this project took an area of Addis abba's poorest slums and helped to give the people jobs, a house, medical care and an education.
One day I was invited to a house that was on the out skirts of our project. There was a tiny house with a corigatted iorn roof. Inside I met a woman who in her past had been a prostitute, as with many who end up in the proffesion out there, it was a way to make ends meet and a last desperate attempt to get out of the cycle of poverty. In a room with the width and height of around the size of two small cars (not sure how else to describe). 4 people lived there, and I believe 2 kids.
The woman, had got aids, her sisters and many friends had also got aids. To their knowledge all the adults who lived in the room had got the virus. As an 18 year old male, my untter embarrassment as the woman exposed her self showing how her entire body was covered in white scabs. How she got terrible headaches/migranes and all she had was some paraceatamol to fight it. She said the headaches only went away when she listened to some chrisitan music cassette. She was outside our project, we couldn't help her. She is one of millions and millions and it's hard to make 'a special case'.
The one thing she owned was a cat. It was her pride and joy, and I got there near the end of this cats life. The animal had been hit by a car. Its back was completely crushed, it had no movements in the bits that had once been back legs.
Earlier that day I had done something weird to me at the time, while having a meal I didn't use a napkin that had been provided. I put it in my pocket.
This cat was crying it's eyes out as flies had started to land on it and upset the wounds. The cat breathing heavily kept trying to use it's forelegs to bat them away. I got my napkin out of my pocket and laid it over the cat. Never has a cat puring ment more to me in my life. The cat slowly went to sleep.
I still feel so sickened by myself, that being in that house with that amazing woman and the only fucking thing I could do was put a peice of paper on a cat. Funnily enough though this is how I'd be refrenced by the woman later on 'the boy who put the paper on the cat'.
The next time I met the lady she had a new kitten, it was malnourished and could sit on my fist. But it was jumping around and was letting me play with it.
Anyway you can do the linking to obie, but meh now i've explained that I feel slightly happier again. Maybe this will convince some more people to put a peice of paper over a cat in need? (hint) |

That story mad me cry like a baby...
I'm going to help Obie because, I love fluffy furry things, and I can't stand to see them (or kids) in pain. It just breaks my heart.
Don''t worry Obie! i-babblers and friends to the rescue! [/list] |

Will definatly try to help!
Energy that story is so sad.. *hugs tightly*
I have to say I had to read the 'obie' post a few times because it says 'his cat and sidekick (Obie)" I was invisioning that Obie was the little see-threw man in the picture and was really bewildered at how both the cat and little man were in the road at the same time.... but alas, after thorough reading i understand!
