Some friend told me to listen to her ... telling me "she really sounds like imogen" ...
but ... i don't think at all ...
i think her music sucks ... 
a sort of revival of 90's dance ... 3 tones, 2 rythms and you're done ...
i don't see any resemblance with imogen ...
imogen is an artist ... she creates things ...

So Kate came by Nashville with Owl City on Wednesday, so of course I went!
I thought it was odd that she was with Owl City, but I didn't think too hard about it.
Kate is wonderful! She's got such an amazing voice, she's optimistic, her sarcasm makes me laugh!
The audience was not a good one. Like I said, odd combo of musicians. Most of the crowd was 12-16 years of age. When Kate came out onto stage, they were absolutely rude to her. They wouldn't stop talking, they were screaming, they were singing other songs...I almost cried because I was so frustrated. The boys behind me where absolute experts on the topic of live performances:
"Where's her band?"
"She looks weird standing up there alone."
"I don't think she's really playing that guitar."
"Wow...this is embarrassing."
I was on the verge of breaking their faces. It would have pleased me. But I'm 18 and don't feel like going to jail right now. So when Kate left the stage, I wanted out of the room too. So I grabbed my friend's arm and literally had to push and shove my way out of the room. NO ONE WOULD LET ME THROUGH! I was trying to LEAVE! As I got to the edge of the crowd, this rude girl stepped out in front of me, glared and me and crossed her arms. I said, "Excuse me" and shoved her out of the way. WHY WOULD YOU STOP ME FROM LEAVING?! I can understand if I was shoving my way to the front, but leaving?! I find it to be hilarious.
I went out to where the merch was being sold and Kate eventually emerged. I almost peed my pants. I chased after her...sorta...and then waited as a crowd of people engulfed her for autographs. Of course, they were all getting her flyers signed. I had "Melankton" in my bag.
Kate is so incredibly nice! I was giggling like a little girl the entire time we were talking. She made me really happy. I was bummed though when she said she had planned to play "Grace" but the audience was too loud for it. Oh well....
A lot of people did leave with her flyer. I'd say the majority of the people honestly wanted to hear her, but the minority is always louder. Oh well...she was exposed to Nashville and I got to meet her! |

Thankfully (for you) she's going to be touring in Nashville in december again (with the awesome Levi Weaver) so... you can go back!
Also, I heard one of the new songs off Kate's new EP 'Me' and it's really pretty! Not orchestral like 'Melankton' but good in it's own way. The song's called 'Think Again', and if you want to get Kate's new EP go to her myspace page and preorder, so you get it directly from her! |

I looove Kate  When she comes back to DC I will definitely go see her.. (if I have the funds ;_; ).
I really want her new EP but not only am I broke, I've heard 4 of the 5 songs already (I own two already ). I really do want to know how "Disobey" and "Soon" have developed, but it just wouldn't make sense to buy it now.
So one day, Kate. One day (by then the album will be out xD). |

Ooh.. you're making me excited Sort of glad 'Soon' stayed the same. I grew attached to it's lushness when it was one of the few songs that got my niece to rest when she was a baby. 'Disobey' should be interesting - are the lyrics the same at all?
I'm looking forward to 'Mouth 2 Mouth' most of all though. It's my 2-1 of the album - I played it a million times, and I'm a bit afraid that I grew too attached to the preview, knowing full well that it's bound to change. |
