Gosh, people are idiots. They don't even know ~_~:

Quote: Compost Heap: If Tim Burton directed a remake of "Mary Poppins" with his permanently frumpy and frizzy wife Helena Bonham Carter as the titular, umbrella-wielding nanny, and there was a scene in which she must fish her young charges out of a lake crammed with taffeta-chomping piranhas, the result would look exactly like Imogen Heap at the Grammys. The Best New Artist nominee fills the calculatingly kooky void left by the once swan-swaddled Bjork by kitting herself out in an oddball Bride of Swamp Creature costume. Her bog-inspired accoutrements include a moss-sprouting mane, nonslip lily pads lifted from the bottom of her tub and a hapless frog that's hoping against hope this isn't the day when a kiss from his true love turns him back into a prince.

i googled kat giantis (the person who wrote that), and she makes her living by being mean and nasty, but under the guise of being clever and witty. she's a gossip columnist for msn.com. |

Seriously? I thought she looked cute enough. She kept going on about it being the first time she'd ever worn a designer frock in that delicious accent of hers! |

I bet all of us are much more upset that Immi is, i bet she just laughed What is there to say except Immi looked beautiful and we allll love her! Why exactly do some people think everyone HAS to dress in a certain style otherwise they deserve to be insulted.....who gave them the right to make fun of what people are wearing. I think its pretty pathetic if part of their job is watching people with more talent than them not wearing what they "should" be wearing (notice >>"should"< is in inverted comma's) and then make fun of them.
HAH i laugh in their face's.......hah! |

You know everyone, not everybody is going to understand exactly what Imogen Heap is all about. The way I feel about the whole entire situation is this. First of all. Props to Immi for pulling it off!! Second of all, I didn't think I saw one other damn artist that said one of their followers made the outfit they were wearing. This actually kind of warms my soul knowing that she cares that much about us, and shows how much she cares about Vogue or the View. Rosie has no room to talk! Love the crazy Lez, but ummm.... no!!! Different people are going to take what she was wearing in very different ways. The people that are completely hating on Immi's clothing are not the kind of people that I want to see at her next concert! What she was wearing was more than I had expected as it always is. I appreciate the designer that made it, but I appreciate her more for letting him! This is truely what makes Imogen Heap....Imogen Heap!!! Who gives two flips what anyone else has to say? I know she doesn't! She's a musician that was at a music awards. Not a gumbie wrapped in armani!

Sellout!!!!
Tell me who exactly do they think she sold out to? The music is all her, and it is out on her own label. Immi does it all herself, the only thing that has change is that more people have heard of her and love her! |

It's true... you know, it sucks too, because being a honest songwriter is so... revealing and requires you to be so open, and then you go to these things and have your creativity and everything you put out there just... smashed to bits because of people's stupidity.
Haha, great youtube review, but even HE doesn't get Immi's name right! I-MO-gen! |

Personally I don't care a fat rat's arse about what Immi wears or what the "critics" think of it. That said, the dress was "wearable art" IMO, and def OTT for the occasion. But Immi knew that, and she also knew that in this context, any publicity is good publicity.
Just because ppl didn't like her outfit doesn't mean they wouldn't be interested in her music, but I'd personally consider it more of a triumph if she was noticed as "the breathtakingly beautiful chick with the amazingly beautiful voice singing the achingly beautiful song" rather than "the chick in the freaky outfit".
I'm more put-out that she didn't get to perform (and IMO, that outfit would not have complemented a performance of CTII). I'm just consoling myself that she didn't lose out to James Blunt, now that *would* have been too much to bear, cos it's the music that matters to me.
Maybe she knew she wasn't gonna perform and she thought "well, one way or another you're gonna notice me"
I'm something of a purist with regards to music, and while music videos and the visual aspect of music artists can be said to enhance the experience, I often find that visuals distract, (and sometimes detract) from the music. And at their worst, flashy visuals make musical mediocrity acceptable as entertainment for the masses.
Anyway I'm getting OT, but I'll finish by saying - shut your eyes and listen to CTII, cos (for me) that's what it's all about - clothes are irrelevant. |

I don't know but it wasn't because of the dress, she may have been the only one who wasn't wearing a dress worth a $100,000 Plus some. A fan made that for her not some snotty designer. Who is she selling out to??? |

I think that anybody and everybody has "the right" to comment on what ppl wear at a publicly transitted event such as this. Why should Immi's (or anybody's) outfit be above criticism? What is this - the emperor's new clothes?
I think it would be a good idea if they all had to wear the exactly the same outfits - then it would be down to personal charisma and the strength/beauty of the music. And that's where Immi would shine.
In all the googlehits I've seen (so far) I haven't yet seen a comment about her MUSIC |

I think that's why (at least for me), I feel so pissed about the dress stuff. I mean... go ahead and criticize what she wears, but where's the actual understanding/appreciation of what she's doing as an artist?
It's naive to think that the music industry actually gives a rat's bum about the artist or the music... it's about money and image. I guess that's why I get bent out of shape about it silly fashion and industry peeps giving people such a hard time about what they wear when they're just trying to... be what they are.
Am I making sense? I feel like I'm being a bit saccharine... |

Yup, fully understand, but this event should be about what they "are" in a musical sense, but the whole focus is sideswiped by the fashionistas.
This is why I'm kinda unsure about the dress - sure it got Immi quite a bit of publicity, but not about her music.
I'm quite stunned that CTII didn't win, it's such a gorgoeus song. But I guess things like this are a good reminder that not everyone thinks like me. You know the feeling.... |

You hit the nail on the head, right there. I liked the dress, and as fans *WE* know it's really just who she is, but I'd rather all the attention she was getting was based on her music and not her style (whether they like it or not, heh)
And for the record, *I* think like you, at least when it comes to CTII. |
