i've found some stuff...but, you don't know if it's used or not and they're between 50 and 75 usa bux!
if ime gonna shell out that much money ide rather give it straight to immi! she's the one who deserves it!! not some company that found a few on a shelf somewhere.
IMMI, remarket this cd off of your website! ile by it for 60 bux FROM YOU!
peace out, mah bizzles |

| Highonimmi- Your ok in my book, It's good to see that you would rather see Immi get all the money then see some lame a** company that is not associated with her and just wants to be greedy. And honestly, you did NOT sound like an ass, you sounded like someone who would rather see your money to someone who really diserves it. |

| yep, i agree with your philosophy, too. give the money to the artist who made the music, not some opportunistic hack on ebay. |

how were you supposed to know?? you can only put so much faith in people before about 90% of them will take advantage of that. i bought imeg japan from hmv so immi would get something from it, but because the real deal is out-of-print, i ended up going to ebay and buying a reasonably-priced copy from some wonderful people in canada. do i wish immi could get something from that? you bet i do, but artists get paid once on the original sale (as i understand it...granted, there's much about this process i'm beyond ignorant about), and pretty much not so much after that. the secondary market isn't there to generate royalties for the person making the music.
there are people out there who'll willingly eat you alive and not think twice about it, and people out there who won't, and you never know who you're dealing with until it's sometimes too late. you should never feel badly for trying to be an honest person, especially if someone took advantage of you for trying to do the right thing. |

AASPBY--don't feel bad. just like lovehound said, you had no idea. you had good intentions dear!
highonimmi--i agree. you're not an ass. no worries, my friend! I know that they're trying hard to work out something with iMeg. The problem is that the record company that she was with (Almo Records) folded, and because of this, trying to get the rights to reprint iMeg is a bit of a pain in the arse. They are trying though. But I will say this. Although the Japanese version is a bit pricier, it's worth it. It's got some excellent additional tracks that aren't on the US release.
oh yeah almost forgot.... if you see something on the internet about someone in Brazil offering the cd, DON'T get it from them!!! |

yes, thank you for mentioning that! the japanese release is SO worth it, so spend your money on it and NOT the brazilian rip-off. |

Lol yeah I guess some retailers do try to financially rape you and the artist. 2 birds with one stone... you know.
I forget if anyone's mentioned iTunes for iMegaphone? It's all on there (though I have a good inkling that she sadly doesn't earn any revenue from it). The other stuff is just extremely rare. I remember trying to get the g:mt soundtrack from some online japanese retailer that I could understand just enough to get by on, and they were selling it for 35 USD plus shipping. Damn! Still though, I placed a backorder.
It's about 3 or 4 months later and they haven't once gotten a copy. I don't have any record players (sorry, but they're just a wee bit outdated and I'm never going to become a DJ) so the 12" is out of the question. At least they didn't charge me, and from what I can tell were fairly reputable. |

| I know what you mean SYN. I'm still trying to find the g:mt soundtrack. talk about hard to find! |

| It's on Ebay right now. I've already bought the LP figuring I would never find the CD and ONE day later...the CD was up...Anywho, it's there. Just type in "Imogen Heap" and you'll find it. |

I remember reading something about the profits for imeg, they placed it up on itunes, the money goes to almo or whoever has the rights now, then after they get the money back that they spent on immi, they give either some of it or all of it to her.
James wrote: Don't worry about it - we didn't know it was going to appear on iTunes yet! Basically the way record deals work is that the label spends x amount promoting you etc. you then have recoup that amount of money via sales (effectively pay them back) before you start seeing any profits from your sales, Immi has not recouped for I Meg yet so until she does all the money goes to Almo - it's pretty common for an act not to recoup on their first album or two, unless they have a hugely successful record (lots of sales). |

Yes, but I wouldn't be shocked either if a transference of rights changed the deal altogether.
But it didn't, so at least she has a chance.
Future of Music Coalition wrote: "You grant and convey to Label, and confirm that Label shall be the exclusive, perpetual owner of all Masters throughout the universe, including without limitation, all copyrights therein as a "work made for hire". Label and all parties authorized by Label shall have the exclusive right to exploit the Masters, and to use your name, voice and likeness in connection with such exploitation. The right to use your name, voice and likeness shall be exclusive during the term and non-exclusive thereafter."
And...
Future of Music Coalition wrote: (b) No mechanical royalty whatsoever shall be payable for (i) records cut out of the [Company] catalog and sold as discontinued merchandise or records sold as “scrap,” “overstock” or “surplus”; (ii) any work which is non-musical; (iii) records distributed by [Company] which are not “Records Sold” (as defined herein); (iv) any work which consists of an arrangement of a work in the public domain; or (v) any more than one use of any work on a particular record.
It can get shifty when labels go under but I guess Almo was at least partly incorporated into UMG. I guess there is no catalogue bankruptcy here. |

I found iMegaphone at Fred Meyer (comparable to target, but with produce etc.) they didn't have an Imogen heap section... it was buried in some other artists pile, my sister happened to spot it.
I consider myself lucky. |
