On a recent flying trip to Melbourne from our Brisbane home, my insightful 13 year old daughter handed me one earphone from her i-pod and said ''listen to this song, it's really beautiful and I've been playing it over and over for the past two hours''. She lay on my shoulder and we both listened. I was overwhelmed by it's ethereal beauty and along with the connectedness I felt with my child, I was brought to tears of joy and wonder. The song was ''Hide and Seek''. I want to thank you for such a moment imogen, you are a very gifted woman.
Look forward to listening to all your music!! Namaste and God be with you in the future.
Love your 'oldest' fan apart from your mum, maybe!!

Welcome to the boards. Don't be too quick on claiming the oldest fan. I think we have others in their 40s around, and some people have mentioned their grandparents loving the music.
Anyways, if you wouldn't mind (and know how) could you shrink your picture to around 100x100 pixels? That way it doesn't stretch the whole boards horizontally. Thanks!
I hope you have fun here. I'm glad your little one was listening, but more importantly (and sadly rare these days), you took an interest in what she was doing. =) |

said 13 year old has organised 'reduction in avatar size' - thanx for the advice marchhare - I did think a whole screen of my 'face incognito' was a little over the top
Does anyone know if Imogen is planning an Oz gig at some stage? Also, I'm planning a trip to the UK in September - any chance of seeing her then...Prolly wishful thinking... |

Thanks, youngsta! =)
We haven't had word of anything Down Under yet, but there is quite a large group of you here, so I wouldn't be surprised if they worked something out for her to get there at some point. |

Got back to the Immi site today and was amazed to find some lovely replies to my post. Thanks to Marchhare, "Colreee, Lovehound & Pansygirl for making me feel so welcome. Yes my teen is a smart girl - she has the right genes !!! No seriously, we both love music and words - she writes the most beautiful poetry. As you say marchhare, it is important to take an interest in what our kids do. I encourage her to write her poetry down - who knows one day she might use it to produce some beautiful songs.
Is this the first time Immi has been to Africa? I'm sure she'll love it and feel its magnetism. I spent most of my teenage years in Zimbabwe (then Rhodesia) and my daughter was born in South Africa - it's an inspirational place - it amazes me how the black Africans can smile so widely in the face of adversity.
I'm sure she'll come back with some wonderful ideas! |

| For Colreee, "Oz" is the "real" Oz, like from the book. And not being there means she's out of Kansas. =) |

Hey.
This is the aforesaid 'youngsta.'
Nice to meet you all
Mum inspired me to join this site, so I could share my opinions on Imogen's songs. Absolute brilliance on her part. My favourite song is Hide And Seek, and I can't get enough of it! I play it over and over on repeat. I don't seriously think I could get enough of that song.
Mum and I will be doing the most random things when we will break into song.
"Where are we?
What the hell is going on?
The dust has only just began to fall.
Crop circles in the carpet.
Sinking, feeling."
And then we'll fall silent again, but we will each be thinking about that wonderful song, and a moment later one of us will go and put it on.
Absolutely beautiful.
So thankyou, for giving me this song, and letting it change my everyday life.
Funny, the power of words, don't you think?

| Hi Laura. Have fun with us here! (And thanks for actually typing out words and using real words instead of the new craze on the internet for weird writing.) |

No worries.
That 'new Internet style' is called chatspeak, and, quite personally, I think it's silly. I mean, if God intended us to write 'wr r u?' instead of 'where are you?' for example, we would not have had such an extensive alphabet.
As for the spirit, I believe Imogen is the spirit of the Earth, as in her songs she seems so in tune with nature and modern society.
If that makes any sense.
Anyway, I must be off for the moment - going to go and write some more poetry or something of that nature.
Laura

Lovely to have you around here, tainted. We hope you and your Mum like it here. It's pretty interesting that Imogen herself comes on to the forum from time to time, so keep an eye out for her posts.
Just out of curiosity, does your screenname have any special significance? If so, you might hop over to this thread and let us know why you chose it.
Welcome, again. See you around the boards. |

oldness is good, because it brings lots of fun things with it, like wisdom, and patience and being another year closer to the 10% senior citizen discount on lots and lots of things.
lessee...consulting the handy-dandy pocket astrological guide...dec. 9...makes immi a sagittarius: 'i see my goal. i reach my goal. and then i see another.' definitely a fire sign...'sagittarius is definietly the luckiest sign in the zodiac. he is ruled by jupiter, the kindest and most benevolent of all the planets. expansive and generous by nature, happy and cheerful in character, sagittarius is liked by others and he likes them.' no doubt about that... |

well now, the lion is a personal favorite, so i'm going to have a hard time being impartial, mr. page .
'leo- i will, therefore i am.
we can understand so much about leo when we know that the part of the body ruled by the lion is the heart...
his light comes from a very strong and anchored center, and it is from this point that leo gives and gives and then gives some more. he is truly a child of the sun, and the sun never exhausts its fuel. this is the kind of leo (by that, the author means the 'mature' leo) who radiates power, joy, goodwill, and abundance for all to share. he is loyal and generous to his friends, passionate to his lovers, and creative in all he says and does. he loves children, especially his own, and they love him in return.'
sounds about right, wouldn't you say? |

Please, call me Laura.
My username has a slight significance, as it is my favourite oxymoron.
And...I usually use it for my wolf roleplaying.
I may share some of my poetry, although some of it is personal, and close to my heart. |

Being restrained by conceit and humbleness ...
A few of these traits are familiar , especially in regards to my children.
Nothing compares to the love of mine.

You may be interested in knowing that Immi is performing on the 26/27/28/30th in September in Gateshead/Leeds/Sheffield/Glasgow within the UK. It may not be close to where you are visiting or the right time but if you do get a chance to possibly take a day trip [or rather night trip] to go and see her I would suggest it greatly. All the details can be found her her "Calender" section on the main website.
And I have to say that I felt really.. hmm.. slightly inspired to hear from both Mother and Daughter on here. I know that there are several parents knocking around here [such as Mike] and I think its the first that I've heard of their siblings coming on board too. But I think its fantastic.
I'm so glad that you found such insight and felt so much more connected to Laura because of the song, it really is a beautiful song. I haven't listened to it in a long while and I experienced something last night and I had no idea what to do. So while sitting on the train I put on Hide and Seek and just thought all the way home... the song has many different affects on people but I'm glad its brought you that little bit closer.
Anyways, its lovely to have both of you here.
I hope that I get to read some of that poetry that you write, but of course nothing too personal. Sometimes Laura we must keep the closest of writing close to our heart where it belongs.
Much love to you both, and welcome!

Hey again.
By the way, please call me Loz. Everyone else does.
Wow. :O
So many replies.
Well, I feel so connected to everyone on this site - you're all so spiritual and free. So much more realistic than modern society and the like.
As for my poetry, here's a sample:
On the lush blades the fair maiden fell,
Staining the jade with her crimson tears,
Will she not live? On time will tell,
For now, with her blood, she washes away the fears.
Hopes shattered, lives broken,
Secrets spilled, Words unspoken.
Her individuality caused such strife,
For daring to be different, she paid with her life.
Scarlet cheeks growing pale with the fading moon,
Body motionless in the twilit noon.
In death, her spirit has awoken,
The secrets she held, still unspoken.
Okay, that wasn't all that great, but hey! I tried. I can do better
Anyway, I'm off to listen to Hide & Seek. Every time I hear that song I contemplate it, and every time I emerge from my thoughts with a different outcome. Oh well. Talk later, especially to you, Bobakey.
xXx
