Hi all. I took 6 other people, my wife, 2 boys ages 12 and 14, and our best friends and their son. All of them like Immi's work to some degree, having been fed a steady stream of it since January.
The room was hot, the security was very rude. Typical club stuff. Certainly does not intice us go go there again.
Immi was stunning. She has a grace and confidence that is charming. Perhaps it's the accent? Or the Wild hair? Or maybe it's the ability to manage all that technology in real-time. Silicon and metal, when infused with her voice makes the hair on my arms stand up. Even when the technology failed her, she recovered in a humourous way turning the negative into a positive.
After the show, we were in the big line to meet Immi. I had brought a poster to sign, which was in the car. My Wife and one son went to get it, only to be told they could not re-enter the club. There's those club nazi's again. My youngest son pretended to be leaving, grabbed the poster from his mother and double-backed to Dad with it. Securty watched and let him go. Way to go Peter!
I was very impressed with how gracious and friendly Immi was and would have completely understood had she not appeared for the fans. First impression: She's tall!
So in November, i say Massey Hall? It would be nice to sit for a change! That floor is terrible to stand on.
I saw Knowitall across the room, but did not get a chance to introduce myself. I did say hi to Mike Page. You can be "Mike from Oshawa" i'll be "Mike from Mississauga".
None of my pictures turned out ok, they were too dark. Including the video chatting with Immi afterwards. If you have some you would like to share, please email them to me, or let me know where i can download. Thanks!!!!
I would have liked a longer set,
The show as advertised as "All Ages", thus the early start and finish. I didnt see as many young fans as i thought would be there. Interesting crowd. Pretty well behaved.
I did hear a British term some people may not be familiar with:
Perspex which is plastic, like plexiglass. Ie, the cookie jar was perspex.
I do think "The Walk" is quickly becoming my favourite.
I will need 7 tickets for november, everyone wants to return.
When are we going to get a live set on DVD?

Hey there Miker !!
I noticed the entourage with you. That's so cool Sir !!
Should have brought my boy !!
For me , It was Immi's dancing in the parking lot.
She was soo exhausted but rose to the occasion.
Nice to have met you Sir !!
Sincerely

great time last night... totally made up for the jan concert i missed cuz i had my tonsils out.
one of my fave moments of the night: when i was at the merch booth and pointed out the milosh cd exclaiming to my friend "this cd is AWESOME". i then looked up and realized i was looking right into Mike Milosh's eyes haha.
on the one hand i was so embarassed, on the other i thought, i'm sure it's nice to hear a compliment first hand right?
when she decided to play a frou frou song i desperately wanted her to play "shhh" but how in hell would i ask her to play that without audience members thinking i wanted them to shut up!? hahahaha
can't wait for november

a warning, this is going to be the most all-over the place, rambling account of last night you are going to read........that being said,
got downtown around 4pm via Go-Train, found a parking attendant (put my hands out infront of myself to simulate a steering wheel) that let me sneak through his lot to the waterfront where i sat and enjoyed the water and sunshine until i felt like going and standing in line around 5pm. ended up being about 25th or so in line.
thank goodness i was mis-informed about the show being in the Kool Haus side of the establishment, the sound system would have "crapped" out as it just can't handle the bass that Immi was pumping out last night, nothing like "feeling" the music in your chest aswell as with your ears, mind and heart, takes me back to my rave days, kinda, those (rave basslines) were much heavier basslines but usually didn't have vocals to worry about being "washed-out"........rambling...........i really do believe that i sustained actual damage to one of my ears during those days........rambling............
felt a little silly when they finally let us in, everyone rushed the front of the stage, i went to grab a beer, first one to the bar, i win. i'm just too old to stand up at the front now, (haha, i'm 31) being able to see Immi is/was nice but i would have been just as happy sitting on the floor with my eyes closed listening to a "live" set, besides, at 6'1 in my shoes, my head would have been in peoples way, yeah that's it, i was thinking of you "vertically challenged" people, although Immi makes me feel "challenged" standing next to her, so.....................
Zoe came on around 6:30, played a wonderful set, despite the problems opening and closing the doors (i'll talk about security a little later) to the left of the stage. many that came wondering what a cello sounded/looked like and why they would be listening to one at a concert left astounded and amazed that they had enjoyed a classical instrument, look out school music teachers, the cello influx is about to start.
next, the main attraction. Immi appeared to a full-house (1000+ fans packed wall-to-wall) and much applause. again stating what some others have already said, she sounded much more comfortable this time around, any nervousness that she displayed during the last show was absent this time around, although the between-song banter (maybe nerves, i like to think of it as "ramblings of a great creative mind") stayed, and was appreciated, even by the people in the back of the venue that yelled for her to speak up, classic live show moment. i'm not going to review any of the music, we all know what it sounds like, and each persons appreciation for it differs from track to track, suffice it to say, hearing her hit the high note during Hide & Seek was my personal favourite moment of the show, as it has and always will be my fave song. second favourite moment? the fact that i started to tear (no actual drips/drops though) when she first started playing, sounds silly but i feel so proud of her for all that she has and will accomplish in the not too-distant future, proud that someone could be "so in their element," hopes to all out there that whatever you do in life, do it with that kind of passion and love, that Immi has for her music and her fans, and that you enjoy it as much. okay, sorry i said i wouldn't review anything but, Hallelujah, wow, what a treat. even though she miffed it a bit at first (i wouldn't have had her do it any other way, part of what makes her so human and personable) once she got going....it was a force, with the crowd singing along during the chorus, i may have teared up again, and i'm not even religious, unless you count bhuddism. we were introduced to her "band" and also a certain cleavage loving little rodent, that's all i'm going to say about that, LOLOLOLOLOL.
the show ended too soon, as they always do, and i was a little sad that we probably wouldn't get to meet Immi because security was asking everybody to leave so they could close, clean-up, and re-open for 10pm, they've had a club night there for years on Saturdays. rather than trying to beat the rush of people leaving, decided to hang back and wait for the crowd to clear some, low and behold, as i'm walking out, there she is, signing and smiling, despite security's grumbling. then i turn to my right, who else do i see? Mike Milosh. i went to say hello and finally met his girlfriend Yen, (sorry girls, he's taken) we chatted for a second about how schedule couldn't allow him to play but that Immi was nice/great/thoughtful enough to allow him to sell his CD's at her show. thanks again Immi for supporting our local talent, what a gal. by the way, he has a show coming up in June that i may see some of you at. finally, i get to Immi (she looked shorter this time, but then, i had newer shoes on, so maybe i'm taller..........anyway) and say great job on Letterman and Leno, great show tonight, nice sunburn, what happened to the big flower and a personal thanks for letting Mike come sell his CD's her show, you know, everything that one can remember to say when confronted with her Immi-ness. she noticed the shirt, i think she liked it and since i already had my album autographed last show, i asked her if she could just give me a little bit of Immi art, which i got, and a picture, which i got. said goodbye, good luck and see you in November and left.
met some fellow iBabblers, but not as many as i thought i would. my fault too, i'm not the most social person in the world, far far far from it. although i did see an ex co-worker that i had mentioned Immi to last year sometime. what a wonderful surprise, she really is quite beautiful, eyes that i could stare into forever...............rambling, we may come to the next show together............rambling..............although i don't want to wait six more months to see her again.............rambling...........
all right, SECURITY, before i get into this, let me tell you, for those that saw me at the show, i may not be 6'5 300 pounds but i used to work as a bouncer at several clubs around T.O. i have no problem removing a 6'5 300 pound man from any establishment, done it before, probably do it again. not all of them are meatheads, some are actually quite intelligent and considerate people. some are not. they are like you and me, just trying to make it day to day, feeding their families, putting themselves through university, the like. i will let you in on a secret for dealing with security, treat them the same as you wish to be treated, say hello, be friendly, smile at them. and remember, ultimately they are there for your safety, repect is the key here. now that's not to say that they were perfect last night, the opening and closing of the doors during Zoe's set, was totally uncalled for, the only logic i have for it, people outside wanted the doors open so they could hear better, okay, or the bouncers wanted to smoke and still be able to watch the inside while they were outside, not okay. i didn't see them trying to start a fight with anyone but i don't doubt that it could have happened, sometimes we see things out of context, maybe the "guy" had been being an idiot all night, who knows? as for rushing us out, they are a business, trying to make money, they had another event that night that they had to get ready for 10pm. as i said before, the KoolHaus is the concert side, Guvernment is the club side. why they even had Immi in the Guv and not KH i'll never know, could have avoided the whole problem, but the sound would not have been anywhere near as good, so..............................
rambled enough? my eyes and hands are getting sore, maybe i've been logged out while i'm typing this, doh!, great night all around and for those that don't have myspace accounts, i'll include the autographed album cover from last show as context for the Immi art that i wanted to get this time around

Haha! YES! I wanted not to be the one to say it, but have no doubt I was thinking about saying what you two just did.
But, actually, I have something else to say. Does she have a circular tan-line on her neck there? The piece of hair on viewer's left seems to follow it. Maybe from all the sun she's been getting here in the US? |

I may do a longer post later, maybe not...
Met A-Train and OverandAbove (nice blog kulpop), and a few others, including the girl (sorry, didn't catch her name) that won the fly-to-immi contest. Very cool.
front row: my wife, my friend Nathan and I really enjoyed the show, and got to meet her. Thanks to knowitall for snapping the main pic, but then taking a second one of her chatting to me. then I snapped a shot for him, good pose with your hand on her waist man! hehe
ya, those pens were strategically placed. hehehehe.
gotta fly, nice to meet you guys. the evening couldn't have gone much better, I really feel lucky. |

Yay, it was a lot of fun! Evie_chan and I hung out with two friends of ours who couldn't wait to see Immi perform, so I'm that they could experience something like this. It was a very nice atmosphere, much better than at the El Mocambo in January. It was also really nice to have a chat with other people.. before, during, and after the concert.
Zoe was so great.. I wish there weren't so many people talking during her part because a lot of her pieces were quite gentle.. I wanted to try and hear every single note being played through those loops. But that's okay, I still had a fun time listening to her. She played Tetrishead at the end, which is just what I wanted.
Remember when Immi said she went to Toronto Island with two girls? Yeeeh, that was Evie_chan (Rachelle) and I, hehe. We wanted to plan out a little lunch in thanks for London, and Zoe suggested Toronto Islands so we took her there. It was really fun.. sandwiches, fruits, and homemade cookies.. and the view of Toronto from the ferry is always beautiful. Also, we had a nice walk and chatted about random things. The subject of putting on sunscreen came up after eating, but Imogen felt comfortable under the sun so she didn't put on any. Oops. Ehehe.
Anyways, back to the music. Just for Now sounded really lovely, and I can't wait to download it off of iTunes Canada. I won't put my thoughts on every song, but stand-outs were Speeding Cars (the cello was so perfect with it), Hide and Seek (I think the audience was silent during this song, so it really left a nice feeling), Hallelujah (didn't expect her to sing it!), and Daylight Robbery.. woah, it was so much fun!
We only met Zoe afterwards (gave her some cookies from the picnic because she wasn't able to come, hehe).. the kicking us out quickly part wasn't so great, so we didn't see Immi to get autographs, but maybe it'll be easier when she comes back in November. Oooh, what fun it was.. every single bit of it! I can't wait for the next one! |

I felt much the same when I heard it. Really amazing arrangement for a beautiful song.
Glad you had such a good show. |

It seems that each time I hear her do "Just For Now: like that , the versions are becoming more polished.
It is so cool how she builds the song as she goes !!!
"secretagentkr" - I almost jumped outta my skin when she did "JFN".

you guys can blame/thank my friend for "hallelujah".. well, maybe she was going to play it anyways, but when she came back onto the stage after going and sitting on the bar for a few seconds (lollerskates) he yelled "HALLELUJAH! HALLELUJAH!" to which she replied "hallelujah... i can do" and did her thing.
i kept going "PLAY BLANKY! PLAY BLANKY!" but i'm pretty sure she was pretending to not hear me.
i'm still coming down from my high two days later! greeeeeaaat show. |

So, that was you guys eh ??
So Happy she said "I can do" and sang it soooo beautifully (after her couple of false starts)
Her voice was so perfect and crystal clear all night and especially during
"Halleujah"
Yeah Danny !! I am still drifting around in "La La Land" myself .
I asked a guy in front of me if he was Danny , but it wasn't you (obviously)
Glad you enjoyed the show as much as all of us did. How could you not though eh ?? Immi is so magical live !!!

it was insaaaaaaaaane. i can't wait until november now! she'd better do just for now the exact same frigging way next time she comes, cause that was a sweet deal.
my friends and i (i brought 5 ) got to the venue at like 4:00 but we had to go and look for a bathroom in the market because we'd just been sitting in a van for 2 hours, so we ended up being behind like 10 people.. 10 particularly cool people, though, so it was all good. |

Woopsie for immi's sunburn. It didn't look too bad though..
And yes, indeed the tour in general was tiring..so it was nice of her to be able to get away a bit before the concert.
As for the concert itself, absolute craziness. The soundsystem at the guvernment didn't disappoint me, though I wish they'd have used their lasers..I wanted to see those crazy things in action.
No matter though, the concert was very awesome. =D I also recorded several portions of the performance...though a couple I have to edit since I accidently recorded sideways (silly me), but I did take a crapload of pics, so follow the link below!
Immi Picnic/Concert pics
Note: some of the images are blurry, but in many cases, the blur added a sort of...interesting visual appeal. I dunno, I just uploaded the ones I liked. |

Yay Evie! The pics turned out great, and I love the blurred ones, hehehe.
And the pic of us three with the CN Tower looks faaabulous! Good one on getting the picture of the guy with the pigeon. That was really funny. |

This is the second time I have missed her!
If the November date has any truth to it I will be there at all costs barring WWIII
To all you ppl who were able to see her perform, you suck & I hate you!
Just kidding, I only hate you
Truth be told the Guvernment was a bad choice! I have been to almost every establishment in southern Ontario and there are at least 10 I could name off that would have sufficed.
The glory of hindsight!!!!!!!!
Does anyone know who does the promo work for Immi??
I could be a great help next time she comes around!
**theme to The Godfather playing in the background***
All in all it sounds as if she did her usual and made hearts fly and eyes cry! |

Here's a 5:30 video of a few songs from the night...I did it on my digital camera, so the quality isn't that great. Enjoy! The quality's not so bad for most of it. Thanks a ton for shooting this and posting it for download! |
