I WILL!!! I'm bringing a friend who knows of my obsession with immi but doesn't really know her songs, so it should be a fun way of introducing her into my 'scene'.
I'm soooo looking forward to this |

this may be a long shot, but does anyone have one or two extra tickets they would want to sell? if not i will be the one on hanging out outside trying to hear immi through the walls...don't mistake me for a homeless person...unless you give homeless people tickets. |

So Imogen Heap was so incredible, it was beyond words.
And she was so nice after the show too.
She took time to like...do drawings on my autograph.
I was in the first row...like...right in front of her.
(I was in really tight jeans and a red zip up hoodie)
The whole show was just...marvelous.
I felt so annoying taking 200 or so pictures,
But it was all so worth it.
My friend got the set list,
And I got a poster from the front of the door.
Zoe had my awestruck. What an amazing performer.
And Imogen was so great as well.
I loved when she 1) danced 2) came onto the front of the stage 3) sang.
I am so elated right now. |

The show was FABULOUS! Is it even possible to say that I think she sounded better than at the Hotel Cafe Tour??... well, 'better' prob isn't the best word, but she just sounded more seasoned.
antioch it was nice to meet you... so crazy to see people from here...I would have loved to watch the show with you and hang out after, but my friend was in a bit of a sassy mood (as you could clearly tell by the way she was annoyed at having to wait outside for 2 minutes... ahhhh!!... I hope she's not reading this ... she knows I love her)... Anywho, do you actually live in the city?
Immi was lovely as per ususal and was super cute when she mentioned she'd played the 2 same verses over during "Good to be in love" and mentioned the "cucumber eyes" is her favorite line and she forgot it.
Also, during "Let Go" she started playing the beginning piano part of the song and then stopped and said "Shit, I forgot the first verse. I was going to sing the second one"... then she restarted with a speedy piano start to get to "drink up baby down" which was funny.
(I didn't stay after the show this time b/c I got a picture and autograph last time... and quite frankly, my feet and back hurt from standing in the same spot for so long... I feel like a wee old lady).
Yea, she metioned Cochella in April and I can only hope that it's true cause I'd LOVE to get to see her yet again. |

Firstly.. Schubas blows.
What a rediculously small venue to host such a huge talent.
The sound system sucked. It waasn't even surround sound! There were no speakers anywhere else but right up front.
My girfriend made us late to the show. I was not happy about it.
We walked in towards the end of her first song to a church atmosphere of 150+ statues totally transfixed on Immi. It was neat to see all of the fans of all ages from all walks of life.
My favorite parts were.
1. "Have you got it in You"
2. "Hide & Seek"
3. The Walk" |

I fully agree with you... Schuba's blows as a venue... But aren't they suppose to have a larger room upstairs or something? Someone once told me that Schuba's was their favorite place to see someone perform and surely that weren't talking about that room??
Aw well, we were totally spoiled by seeing her at Park West, which couldn't have been more perfect. At least she was perfect |

And the sound at Park West was so much better.
At least Immi apologized for it being such a small and shitty venue.
I was bummed when I walked in the door and no one would open up to let me get closer. It was dead quiet in there! I swear i felt like I was in Church or at a funeral. I would like to see Immi infuse a little more energy in to her live show. Don't get me wrong, I love her and her music and will support her always. I guess the simplified stripped down versions of her songs left me a bit underwhelmed. She definitely seemed to warm up midway thru the show. The pichyness went away and she really got in to it hitting every high note and every cue. |

This show started for me a few weeks ago when I asked my sister (whom I had given a copy of S4Y) if she wanted to see Immi in concert. She responded ecstatically - so that night I went ahead and bought 2 tickets to the show - figuring I'd check with other friends later on and buy more tickets for them if they wanted to go... The show sold out about 5 hours after I bought those 2 tickets! I was so glad to have gotten in at the last second!
We arrived at the Schubas a little early (never hurts when you wanna get close to the action) and I got to meet my first iBabbler...! noe - it was great to meet you as well. Yeah - it would have been cool to hang out during/after the show - maybe at the one in April (so glad you understood what she said there - cuz I totally missed the "Cochella" part). Unfortunately, I live out in the 'burbs...
As for the actual show, let me start out by saying that it was A-MAZING!
The first act, Zoe Keating was just incredible. I was totally unprepared for her talent - and especially her SOUND! Before a note was played, I happened to be standing next to a guy that had a video camera! My first thought was "what the ...!" and then I leaned over to him and said "how much for a copy of whatever you get tonight?" We chuckled, and then he told me that he was a friend of Zoe's, and that he'd be recording her as he had her permission, but wouldn't be recording Immi because she asked him not to... I asked what the Zoe-Immi connection was, and he explained that Zoe does acoustic cello, and that I'd quickly understand the connection once I heard her play. Boy did I ever...
Zoe has her cello hooked up to a loop recorder, into which she plays a measure or two of music and then the machine repeats it until told to stop. Then she plays over that recorded loop over and over again - and can record up to 6 loops at a time... Put it all together - and you have the makings of some truly unique music, complete with rich overtones, subtle harmonies, and mesmerizing rhythm. Needless to say, I was completely blown away... especially since we were experiencing it all LIVE...! Incredible. One thing I was certainly not expecting to hear from a cello was the almost percussive beats she was able to create by tapping her bow on the strings ... percussion with distinct tonal values - kind of like hearing the different timpani drums at the symphony. I highly recommend you check her out on iTunes, and at zoekeating.com
To begin her own set, Immi walked straight through the crowd, holding a wireless microphone, and sung an open vocalise "Daaaaa - di - Daaaaa - di - Dooooo" - reminding me of the beginning of Loose Ends... It was ethereal, mysterious... beautiful (especially because we could only hear her - not see her - until she finally made it up to the stage).
Let me just say - it was a foreshadowing of the impressive show to come.
Here's the playlist:
- Just For Now
- Goodnight & Go
- The Walk
- Clear the Area
- Let Go
- Loose Ends
- Can't Take it In (from Chronicles of Narnia) (accomanied by Zoe Keating)
- Headlock (accompanied by Zoe)
- Candlelight (iMegaphone)
- Hide & Seek
- Have You Got it in You? (accompanied by Zoe)
- Good to be in Love
- The Moment I Said It
noe hit upon some of the fun moments in the show; Immi was, as always, incredibly personable and imminently reachable. One really cool moment came in the middle of Have You Got it in You when Immi came out from behind her keyboard, wireless mic in hand, walked up to the edge of the stage and sang and danced... that was fabulous!
Over all, as noe intimated, there was a high level of polish on the show - and as one fan reminded us, there were no technical difficulties... (ok - whoever that was - c'mon, you couldn't think of anything more endearing to say than "and no technical difficulties?")
I'd have to admit that I think this was better than the Hotel Cafe show, by a good margin, but there's nothing like your first time...
The songs with Zoe were impressive as well - loved it... and the good news for her fans in the UK is that Immi announced that she's asked Zoe to tour with her back home too - so you'll all get to see/hear her as well...
Of course - one of the best parts of the whole evening was getting to introduce Immi to my sister after the show. Immi is the consummate approachable super-star... I mean, just days ago she was on Letterman...! and last night we got to hang out with her like we were her friends... That's the amazing part to me... she shares herself, through her music and performances, like we're her best friends... and then she treats us the same after the show...
Immi and my sis together!
I look forward to seeing Immi and other fans (especially iBabblers) at the next show. |

Good review there man! And yea, who shouted "and no technical difficulties"? At least a frantic "I LOVE YOU" would have sounded less...I don't know... Silicon Valley Techy.
I totally forgot to mention how she entered in through the audience. She said it was either that or walking outside in the cold to get to the stage door... that clever immi!
So this Cochella thing... I've heard of it... but isn't it only in LA? Or is it coming to more cities this year? Or did she just mean to say that she'd be back in the States (but not neccessarly in Chicago)? |

Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival is a 2-day annual event held in Indio, CA (about 2 hours east of LA). The dates this year are April 29-30. It's one of the best music festivals in the world. This will be my 3rd year going!
Immi will more than likely be making her rounds across the country again in April/May since she's going to be coming back to play Coachella. Hopefully in bigger venues since most (every?) show has been sold out. I'm not able to make it to the show in Detroit tonight because of that
Sorry for hijacking the review thread! lol
