I read a review on another forum, apperently Imogen played 14 songs.... mostly from the new record but also:
BLANKET and BREATHE IN! wow... i wonder if Breathe In was acoustic on the piano... she also did Let Go, Sleep, Come here boy, Closing in, Clear the Area |

| Yeah, the show was great and she did play about 14 songs... 12 in the regular set and 2 encores. She absolutely "nailed" every song and sounded great! I'm so glad I was one of the lucky few to get in and see that show... wonderful, intimate venue. I did feel bad for all the fans that didn't get in. There were a LOT of music industry folks there... but Immi had them captivated... good for her, cuz they're very hard to impress. |

14 songs???? ARGHHH!!!! I thought this was going to be another Hotel Cafe Tour style show with Immi doing the same 6/7 songs. I would have been there in a heartbeat if I had known.
At least NY is in two days. |

I tried to see the Hotel Cafe Tour @ The Casbah in San Diego but it didn't work out (when I got to the door I realized I had forgotten my ID at home! yeah, it was no fun) Anyway...I wanted to make sure I saw this show so I waited from 3 PM until 7 (when they let us in to see the show) It was well worth the wait!!
Not only did she look and sound AMAZING, I ran into her outside before the show and had a chance for photos and getting my CD signed. I also got to talk to her for quite some time after the show and I must say I was VERY VERY IMPRESSED with the kindness and feeling she put into the time she talked with me.
There was so much emotion and feeling in her music that a CD doesn't even come close to sharing with the listener. Every song was performed so well I had goosebumps and tears in my eyes for almost the entire show (not to mention a few laughs from the comedian side of Immi herself)
All in all I had an amazing time (as you can probably tell from this huge post...) I would stand in line all over again to see her (and probably will when she returns to the states)
What an amazing woman, that Immi. Good luck with your US release!
Here are some pics if interested... (kind of dark during the performance itself so I chose two to put up here...hope everyone enjoys...)
Before the show...
During the show...
After the show...

Thanks for the pics. Does anyone have anymore out there? The place was packed. There must be others who grabbed some really good shots.
Please post if you do.

Hi all,
There's a torrent of the show here. I think you have to be signed up to the site to get it but it's worth it for all the other stuff on there. And also, I didn't record this, I'm just showing you the path.
http://www.dimeadozen.org/torrents-details.php?id=65997
I wanted to add that it's 'lossless' quality and a nice clear recording |

You need a program that can decode 'flac' files. I'm on a mac and I use xACT. I'm sure there are heaps for PC that do it but I don't know any names. It wouldn't be hard to find doing a google search. Good luck!

There are limited words to describe Immi's show from the other night, but few do in fact come to mind: amazing, breathtaking, mesmerizing, and any other words that share identical (if not greater) meanings. I was seriously blown away. It was everything I had hoped for and so much more. Kinda like the first time I saw Sunny Day Real Estate after they reformed in '98. Well, I guess I'll make an attempt at a reasonable show review.
Luckily, as my main perrogative for going out to California was for the show, I was also able to work a few days since the company I work for has a shop in Long Beach. They were cool with letting me make some money while I was out there, and they even paid for my flight. So that was a huge bonus. Well, aside from that, I did not work on the day of the show. Instead, me and my buddy Brandon (whom I was staying with) went into Hollywood fairly early to go ahead and park, go to Amoeba, drink, etc. We parked in the parking lot closest to the venue, and as Brandon wanted to go ahead and hit a bar (it was about 3pm at this time) I insisted on going over to the Hotel Cafe just to take a look around. Well, as we neared it, I heard Immi singing and playing through the walls. From the door facing Cahuenga (in actuality it was the door closest to the stage) I could hear her sound check perfectly. Needless to say I was pretty hyped. She played a few tunes from SFY, and to my surprise she even played Candlelight. Candlelight was a great one to hear at that time because she refrained from playing it during the actual show. So we kind of hung around for approx. 30 minutes or so, until I decided we needed to stop being crazy stalkers and get on with the plan. We then went around the area and did the deeds.
As far as the show went, it was absolutely amazing. We got in line at about 7pm, met some people, and then were able to get into the club as soon as the doors were opened, bypassing the line because I was lucky enough to get on the paying guestlist. But we would've gotten in regardless. So I got my beer and found a cool spot to chill and wait for the thing to begin.
After the breakdancing guy from Seattle finished, I looked around and realized that the club was packed. They definitely had more than 170 people in there. But it was all good. At around 9:15pm, Immi walked through the crowd and jumped on stage to wild applause. I must say, she has by far the nicest, most sincere personality when it comes to being in front of an audience, especially an audience that was completely into her. One of the first things she said was that she "had a lot of songs to play tonight." That told me that this wasn't going to be the usual set from the tour. Well, you get the picture, but I figured as she went through the set I would try and scribble down the setlist on my hand as to post it on here. So here it is (but forgive me if I managed to screw up the order; it was hard to read the ink on my hand after all the clapping):
Just For Now
Headlock
Let Go
Clear the Area
The Walk
Blanket
Hide & Seek
Loose Ends
Come Here Boy
Goodnight & Go
Sleep
--here she made a joke about encores, jumped off the stage, stood to the side for about 30 seconds, then got back up and played...
Breathe In
The Moment I Said It
Needless to say, that was one hell of a set. I don't think it could've been any better. All in all she played for about 1 hour 20 minutes or so. I must be honest, it left be completely dumbfounded. I think my friend had to scrape my lower jaw up from the ground. Completely awesome.
Well, it was obvious that most of the people there were there to see her, as the club thinned out quite a bit after her performance. I got another beer and waited around because I really wanted to meet her and chat a bit. She chilled out in the performer's room for a bit, but as Josh Radin (I think that's his name) started to play, she came out and started talking with people, taking pictures, etc. I waited for the mob to die down before making my way over to her. I talked with her for a little while, told her I flew out to LA from Texas, and managed to take a picture with her, although I look quite confused in it because I was in mid-sentence trying to explain how to work the camera to the guy who was taking our picture. I think she got a kick out of it though.
I can't post my pictures from the show yet because my friend hasn't uploaded him to his computer yet, but I'll post them as soon as possible. They all pretty much look the same though, but it is still something to look at.
So in short (well, not really "short" as this post is terribly long) she blew me away. She completely blew me away. Fortunately I have been lucky enough to see most of the bands that I have ever had the urge to see, and her show definitely ranks in the Top 5. No doubt about that. My buddy Brandon wasn't too much of a fan before the show, although he had heard most of the songs, but he was totally converted afterwards. It is true that by just listening to the album does not in any way instill the type of emotions and feelings that I believe are truly intended for the listener. Imogen Heap will be huge, not because of the OC, not because of car commercials, but because her music is the most honest and real that music is capable of being, and she is doing the things that 99% of musicians can only dream about doing. And that is the absolute truth.
Alright, I'm out. I'll post pictures most likely tomorrow afternoon. Peace.

So I know that this is a week after the fact (and I'm sure no one cares anymore), but I finally got my pictures from the show uploaded. I am a pretty terrible photographer, but here are a few of them if anyone is interested. Peace.
And here's one of me with her after the show (notice that I am in mid-sentence with the guy taking the photo, and the picture is quite larger than the others so I apologize)...
Alright, I'm out.

| rich18, if xACT didn't work, try one called MacFlac (not sure if it's one word or not). I have a feeling you need MacFlac installed for xACT to work (I had MacFlac first then found xACT). You've downloaded the whole show right? Cause it can't decode unless the download's finished. |
