Hello everyone!!
My name's Scott Newell and I'm a 35 y/o guy from Charlotte, NC. I've come to really love Immi's music by way of being a Jeff Beck fan. I originally heard her on Jeff's "Rollin' and Tumblin'" track (forget which cd..you guys know it!), and decided to check out her stuff - liked it at first, but I really think she has blossomed in terms of songwriting and direction. Anyway, honestly I'm not a big fan of pop music, because I find most of it, especially nowadays, too repetitive, boring, formulaic, commercial, contrived, too image-based, all that bad stuff. But Imogen has definitely proven that pop music (not to categorize cuz I hate that) doesn't have to be any of those things. It can be layered, dynamic, soulful and just tasty as hell!! I ordered the UK release yesterday because I just can't wait for the Nov. 1 release. I wish her all the success in the world and respect her talent as a multi-dimensional artist (the production, writing, performing, etc etc).
My music world is pretty eclectic - Miles Davis, Jimi Hendrix, Wayne Shorter, Herbie Hancock, Eddie Van Halen, Stravinsky, Bartok, Rachmaninoff, John Scofield, Peter Gabriel, The Police, Paul Simon, Lettuce, Bebel Gilberto, Matthew Garrison, AC/DC, Kenny Garrett, Led Zeppelin, Pat Metheny, Bill Frisell, Elis Regina, Kurt Rosenwinkel, Living Colour, Marc Ribot, Mike Stern, Rush (well some of it), Wes Montgomery, John Coltrane, Ravel, Yes...I think you guys get the picture by now.
Again I'm looking fwd to getting my copy of "Speak for Yourself" and hearing those bone-crunching Jeff Beck guitars (among other things)!! BTW, does anyone else think the opening line of "Hide and Seek" is just pure genius? Talk about having a finger on the pulse of all things happening today man...
All the best,
Scott |

| i was thinking about it today, it just fits with so much, the london bombings is where it fits the most, you can apply it with katrina, it works too. So i know that it is a song about relationships, but it is a song applying to tragidy. BTW you are really into music or you really thought that statment out. Welcome, I expect to see you post more often, it seems that you would. |

Hi -
(in reply to SweetMegara's reply) I really am into music, and I guess I did put some thought into it. I have been playing some kind of instrument since I was about 9 (trumpet first, then guitar, and drums - but primarily the guitar).
My music collection is always alphabetized, never categorized!
Cheers,
Scott |
