| I listened to "Baby Driver" by Simon & Garfunkel about a half an hour ago, and I have a feeling I'm not going to need to play it again for a long time because it is so completely stuck in my head!!! Arg! |

listening to the new havnevik ...
never really liked her ... but now i feel bad for her ... her new album is SO lame ...
when you listen to it, it simply seems that nothing works in it ... it sounds fake, artificial and she's trying too hard ...
bahhh, that's just sad now ... |

There aren't as many dramatic pieces with amazing ambiance and lush instrumentals, but the pop angle isn't that bad. Really, most of the tracks are good.
Some have strange lyrics ("Someone will have to section(?) me if my you cannot find your me." "But I wanna know what the world from below") and some have too much vocal manipulation (for my taste anyway - ahem, M2M).
But when I say 'gems' I mean standouts that could really get her noticed/need to be on the radio/tv/movies. Those imo, are Castaway, Show Me Love, Happy Sad, MYYM and Think Again. Especially Happy Sad - the hook is very infectious and I only wished the ending was BIGGER!
For a diehard fan, if you already bought the Me EP, Show Me Love/Halo singles and heard TiR and Castaway from Guy Sigsworth's soundcloud, there are only 4 new tracks after that.
Tighter writing and maybe switching a few tracks around (I did for the mp3 ver. of the album - I chose her stronger and signature pieces to open and close ) would make this a great album. But by all means, it's not terrible. It's definitely more upbeat than Melankton, but the transition from typical Havnevik to pop-y Havnevik may seem too jarring, and may not work for some people.
But, ahem, back to the topic at hand Kate Havnevik's "Happy Sad" just finished playing and Kelly Mueller (or "Kell on Urth" now :/)'s "Easier to Dream" is starting to play. [it's available for free download after liking her on FB] |

I think it's "But I wanna knowww the world from below" -- makes more sense this way.
I found a copy of YOU, and I'm halfway through it right now (so, this isn't that off topic). MYYM is really great, Disobey is better than I remember the ME version being. Not as good as her first, maybe, but she hasn't strayed too far in my opinion. A lot of this album reminds me of Lenka (especially Think Again).
I also bought some dvds of Bjork videos, so I've been watching those. Triumph Of A Heart is great. :D |

Heh, I'm listening to YOU again. And again. And again. Loving every bit of it.
Also loads of Death Cab for Cutie. And Tegan and Sara (a recent find of mine) :D "Living Room" is great. |

I was actually listening to Disobey in my car the other day and that's how I heard it too. Maybe the slower version is influencing my thoughts But that's it with KH from me here. I'll be posting future 'You' comments on her topic here xP
As for what I'm listening to now... You know it's "Xizi She knows"~ (ah, I always want to type it the way it's pronounced xP) |

I obviously have Xizi on repeat but I noticed Florence + the Machine's new album Ceremonials from November hasn't been pimped here yet! I'm so in love with Flo, so much so that I have officially labelled Cosmic Love my favourite song of all time, a title that should very well belong to an Immi song instead, but I just can't think of any thing better than the flow of that song. :3
Anyway, all of Ceremonials is fantastic, and I've been listening to LIGHTS' Siberia too.. |

Ceremonials is one of the best albums I've heard in a while, tbh. |

A Red Hot Chilli Pipers (that's PIPERS, not the vegetable) rendition of 'Clocks' by Coldplay.
I'm at work, and the CD is on manual-loop, and it's probably the 200th time I've heard the ENTIRE thing.
Sh*t happens. |
