Didn't see one on it yet, so here it is! This place hasn't been active the last few weeks, so I hope a discussion thread stimulates some conversation |

| The title is "Xizi She Knows", right? That double subject is driving the grammar nazi in me crazy. Don't do another "flied" [Headlock], Immi! |

Grammar Naziism is amazing tbqfh. I think Xizi She Knows is a nice play on speaking, though. It just sounds fun to say. |

kate bush did the same thing on "babooshka," when she wrote, "just like his wife before she freezed on him." |

I hope its nicer than the previous ones of this new "album" ...
They were nice but i got really bored with them really quickly ...
And i still didn't get to listen to the whole neglected song ... with those horrible 80s science fiction voices ...

I like Neglected Space, but I agree its replayability is rather low.
More of an art song, I guess. |

| I was able to purchase the song off of the Canadian Music Glue Imogen Heap shop and really enjoyed it! It is probably my favorite of the current heapsongs. Have to say I was happy to finally hear a faster/upbeat song. Hopefully the coming heap songs are as good as this one. |

| It was up for a little bit yesterday and I legally purchased it. Only the Apple Lossless and the FLAC versions were available though. I plan on buying the bundle too, hoping there is an instrumental version included. |

someone left a link unprotected, which allowed some people to hear/buy it before it was ready. the link was removed, so now the immination (myself included) waits until it's really ready to be released. |

I won't do that but I will say the song is 4:41 in total. The chinese singing heard in the preview: http://yfrog.com/mmuvpz starts at around :44 (though it sounds slightly different) and Imogen starts singing at 1:09. |

Oh heard it ... it has leaked
just one thing to say : meh
and ... immi ... where did you go ?
it's so ... empty ...
i'm so annoyed with those attempts to make "world music" by mixing exotic instruments in it ...
it seems that she's a lot into that since the dewarists thingy ...
and it took her months to do ... that ... ?
i'd say she better work in the urge as she did before !
meg again ...
ok waiting for the next one ... |

Just heard it... it's... interesting. I love the vocals, but those instrumental interjections and chants feel really out of place, I wish Immi had stuck to full on electro production with this song. The instrumental feels quite empty too. It's really hard for me to say that cause I love Immi.
EDIT: Listened to it five times in a row. It reminds me of her Frou Frou material, and that's actually great. The chanting still feels out of place, but the song itself is great! |

Really look forward to it and I am glad that Imogen keeps doing what she feels is right. I loved all the heapsongs on this album so far, even though they are wildly different from each other! Not many musicians this popular remain experimental in their way of doing music. Find someone else to listen to while waiting maybe? I can strongly recommend these:
Kate Havnevik, Tomas Dvorak, Nujabes, Sigur Ros, Anna Ternheim, Röyksopp, Zoe Keating, Fever ray!
Check them out and have a nice day! |

Thank you !
Is it a joke ?
it looks like an advertisement for the UNICEF ...
i can't believe she did that ...
i hope she manages to go out of those clichés soon and get her creativity back !
I really thought she was the kind of artist who would never do such a thing ...
i'm terribly sad since this morning because of that song ... |

| she was invited by the British Council and some other things to go there to do a project of her choice. that's probably why this was different. but i honestly love it because it's so different and interesting |

I, for one, thought that the video was great. Nothing fancy or high-budget, but beautifully shot and interesting to watch. I'm very easily bored when it comes to videos, but this one managed to capture my attention. The visuals & the music work together perfectly imo.
Plus... I just realized that we almost have a half of an album. I love the songs so far, but none of them managed to surpass Ellipse for me, unfortunately. I hope the next ones will be more hard-hitting and upbeat (The Walk, Daylight Robbery) or eerie and epic (like 2-1). |

If you watch this video completely out of context, I can understand it not being your 'typical'music video, but this is part of a much bigger story, part of a documentary filmed across 24 hours in fact.
As for the song - I love it! It didn't grab me on the first listen, but by the 2nd, I was hooked and I've not been able to stop playing it....it has so many Immi-elements in it that I love. |

i'm looking forward to seeing the video because of what i heard in the song, which i haven't been able to stop listening to, with headphones on and cranked up to 11. none of the other songs on the new album have grabbed at my attention like this one has; there's so much going on it it! and the music SO immi-esque; both familiar and brand new at the same time, which is comforting and exciting, if that makes any sense. i think she's done extremely well with it. |

I'd have to say that Minds Without Fear is by far my favorite Heapsong (I think it counts as one...). It's so energetic and fun. Xizi Knows is probably tied with Lifeline for second.
I don't think these heapsongs (with the possible exception of Neglected Space) are really any different than what she was doing on Ellipse, stylistically speaking. If any one of these songs was put in the middle of Ellipse, no one would have batted an eyelash. It's because she's releasing every song as individual singles that so much emphasis is put on every song. Not every song will be the best on the album -- but since they're released as they're made, it seems people expect each one to be.
Think of it this way: If The Fire or maybe Between Sheets were released not in the middle of the album, but as their own big singles, would people have complained that she's not what she used to be? Probably. I think that Propeller Seeds (similar to Between Sheets in my opinion) and even Neglected Space will sound just fine when placed in the middle of her next great album. |
