Saturday the 26th is approaching! Very Happy What about heapsong1 has inspired you? What are you planning on submitting this weekend for the Inspiration Wall?

Personally, I've been working with the vocal skeleton of heapsong1 as it was on the 20th (right before the first lyrics other than the chorus were added) and keeping up with changes in structure, but I've tried not to spoil the actual lyrics for myself. I decided on that 20th to interpret the music and the flow of the singing to create alternate lyrics and compare the places we both arrive at in our final versions. I haven't had much time this week, but I've finished the first verse for the most part. I still need to work on the pre-chorus chanting bits, and the second verse, and I'm not sure if I want to keep the middle 8 blank as it used to be, keep Immi's lyrics over top, or write my own. :s Decisions, decisions... I have decided though on the theme of opposing natural forces, and the way they attract and repel each other violently. Water and fire have been my focuses.

Anyway, I'm interested in hearing what you've been up to!

I wrote a little song. A little snippet. It's A Capella and called Under A Black Wave. I'm not sure I totally understand how the Inspiration Wall is supposed to work. Various things feeding from various sources into the page, I suppose? I guess all will be revealed in time.

Hmm, yes. I'm clicking on the 26th on the keyboard page and arrive at the error "The document name you requested (/26/index.html) could not be found on this server." Surprised Hoping it shows up soon. I finished my alternate lyrics very late last night so I sure hope I get to submit them!

EDIT: Ah nvm, you have to click on the index.php link. You can see mine here, or on the third/fourth line of the wall. Very Happy

I wrote a little poem thing. The formatting was lost when submitting it, of course. Can't figure out how to do it here, either.

the lifeline

a quarter-step between c-sharp minor
and humanity

a ruby thread engulfing what we hold dear
and silence

a majestic voice
a trumpet's undulations
and a seed swirled in music

waiting to grab the right person
(and the precise time)

for ever more.[/code]

I like it joeyschenning, and it's original as iit's ABOUT the song rather than the song's subject matter.

Yes I noticed the formatting problems too when I was trying to post the lyrics of my song "Seismic Meltdown" on the inspiration, so I didn't bother with that and just did the audio but it's the lyrics I'm most proud of here, especially the bridge with lifeline/teaspoon/tectonic plates/surrender to the dark etc...

They are here posted below and I did a little YouTube vid with the song here:

Don't think Immi saw much of the inspiration wall going by what she said on tonight's vid blog. Hope she'll see what I did someday. It's a much more of a literal approach of the whole Japan thing but I did use lots of words from the word cloud and her work does always inspire me though sounds completely different than what I do. Embarassed

Seismic Meltdown

This region is ruined
Everything is gone
It came and it took
It was over before dawn
Messages on a wall
families in despair
Longing for loved ones
asking how and where

And escaping brings guilt
when so many have passed on
Being one of the lucky few
can seem so wrong

Embracing each other
whose names you don't know
After this destructive time
where can one go?

But in an Endless Dream of Rainbows
Filled with Grace Bittersweet
In a kaleidoscope of Hope
will be the next place we will meet
A tidal-wave of silence can't break our hearts
This seismic meltdown won't keep us apart

A future now broken
without the light
The fire inside
no longer burning bright
Homes all wrecked
breakwater not enough
We can only find strength
in the ones we love

And so many now missing
leaving so many behind
For all the trying
there is nothing left to find

But in an Endless Dream of Rainbows
Filled with Grace Bittersweet
In a kaleidoscope of Hope
will be the next place we will meet
A tidal-wave of silence can't break our hearts
This seismic meltdown won't keep us apart

So throw me a lifeline
Re-ignite that spark
I don't want to be alone
and surrender to the dark

Teaspoons fall with gravity
Tectonic Plates Shift holds
Fragile life fades away
Blissful Compassion unfolds

Embracing each other
whose names you don't know
After this destructive time
where can one go?

But in an Endless Dream of Rainbows
Filled with Grace Bittersweet
In a kaleidoscope of Hope
will be the next place we will meet
A tidal-wave of silence can't break our hearts
This seismic meltdown won't keep us apart

Looks awesome! I can see a bunch of the words from the word wall - is that were most of your inspiration came from?[/i]
