I saw a report that Immi's Barcelona concert is being turned into a 'Vodafone Secret Show'. I found this description of what secret shows are about:

http://www.vodafone.com/content/index/press/local_press_releases/spain/spain_press_release/vodafone_and_myspace0.html

Basically it looks like Vodafone sponsor the concert to be free entry, and also show the concert (live?) in video form.

Apparently people who have already bought tickets for Barcelona can get a refund. What isn't clear is whether they will be guaranteed entry. The 'free' concerts seem to be open to anyone to go in until the venue is full. I guess that some people would prefer guaranteed entry, even if they have to pay, to free entry with no guarantee. Especially if they have to travel a long distance to get there. I trust that someone has thought about this!

(Added: I can't see anything about video access in that press notice, but maybe I saw it somewhere else.)

I had a tweet from these guys, they said you have to print your myspace page so you get in, what a mess

Bizarre.

Not so sure phone companies sponsoring these events and venues is a good thing.

I'm not sure how large the fan base is in Spain and perhaps this was done at the last minute due to ticket sales? This is just pure speculation on my part and I appreciate I could be totally in the wrong here. Confused

I keep saying it though that it's crazy we have millions of people watching rubbish tv programs but struggle to sell out shows filled with phenomenal original music. Immi's shows have been the cheapest shows I've been to this year but they have by far been the best, most entertaining and the funniest. Exclamation

Personally if I was going the ticket fee would not concern me so much but indeed guaranteed entry would as the travelling and sheer effort is worth more.

Hello there!
I'm Anna, a big fan of Immi and I live in Barcelona... I've had my tickets forever and now they come up with this Vodafone Secret Show thing which I found out about yesterday (no email from ticketmaster or anything). Imogen's albums are really hard to find here in Barcelona, I got my Speak for yourself in London and I doubt they're even out here - so I suppose fans are not many.

Apparently, those of us who had tickets will be able to enter for sure, being there early. Getting there early definitely isn't a problem for me because I planned to be there hours in advance to get the very best view (I've been a fan for years and never got the chance to see her) - here comes the bad part. Vodafone launched a contest which consisted in signing in with your Vodafone number and if you were in the first 60 people who did that you and your partner would be in the list = priority entrance, no queue - so that means if I stick to my normal ticket or am not in those 60, a maximum of 120 people who go there for free will be in front of me.

This is really frustrating because I've been looking forward to this show ever since I discovered Imogen. Now I have no idea if it will still be a regular great concert of hers, or if it will be shorter/not as focused in her music. Also, there's the not entering factor: Bikini is a very very small venue in Barcelona, it's mainly for intimate concerts and this one is not going to be one anymore, I'm afraid.

So as an answer to what you said, I would pay the ticket's price as many times as needed to get back my dear "Ellipse Tour 2010: Barcelona"... Sorry for the looong rant, I'm just too frustrated...

A.

That kind of sucks and I can appreciate your frustration completely. Hope it's a great show regardless and you get a good place to stand.

When I went to Oxford and Sheffield there were O2 priority queues for those lucky to own an O2 subscription phone. Luckily there was no benefit being in the queues as I got right up front, near centre anyway. But it could have been quite a different story I guess.

I'm trying to get to the bottom of what's going on with this show via the promoter and Imogen's agent - more soon.

OK - the word from the promoter is that the venue has a list of everyone who has purchased tickets so if you arrive having been a ticket holder and the show is sold out you will be guaranteed entry...
