"Emotionless the city lies
Cruel it is, it clouds my eyes
The dull the dark shades on my day
I live inside this place"

How no one (me neither) has noticed this before is beyond me. I typed this verse out to someone, and he pointed out how it's strange that she didn't make it "days" as then it'd have rhymed with "place". So then I listened again..

The doesn't sing "I live inside this place"

she sings
"I live inside this play".

That just gives an entirely different context to that part of the song. And I actually like it better!

I do think the official lyrics say "place" as well.. but I even listened to a live version from 2007, and she also sang "play".

I love finding something new about a song of about a decade old.

I have the album - can't remember if it has lyrics - I'll look tonite.

I was wondering if it may have been over-enthusiastic use of a de-esser, but all the other sibilants are there, so i guess not.

Anyway - well-spotted Smile I can't believe I've been singing/hearing the wrong word for so many years. Surprised

I hear "this city". Not that it really makes any diff to meaning.

The lyrics in the album insert read "the city" and "place".

Whatever, *shrug*, wouldn't be the first time the lyrics copy differs from what the vocalist actually sings.

Great album, BTW, I prolly wouldn't have found it if it hadn;t been for Immi Very Happy

Thank you Smile

You should definitely check out the lyrics at CoverMeInInk I did :p They're all as accurate as I could get them. Lots of work, but I loved doing them Smile

Oh and for the record, I checked, and the Jap edition of i Meg does have the "play" lyric, so it's probably just loads of lyric websites that have it wrong!
