I think it may depend on what computer you look at the image. I saw it on my mac this morning and thought..."Oh...interesting" and now I've seen it at work, it looks different.

I would agree that there is something weird about her eye - also her facial features seem to be slightly misaligned to me - although it really depends on how you read the image.

I do prefer this version though - I like the smile and the knowing look.

god people can whine and moan about anything.

Seriously - what is the issue with this album cover? The idea, and the execution are perfectly reasonable, its certainly much better than I MEGAPHONE and speak for yourself.

We aren't immi fans because of the picture on the case, but whats within the case.

I'm liking the cover! I think people are just ove-analyzing because they don't have the new music to listen to. Smile Love the color combination going on. Can't wait to see what the rest of the packaging holds.

some people like the final front cover design , others not - for what reasons soever , but i seriously think that the most important point is that immi herself likes it as it is now , don't u think so too !?

btw : in the good ol' days of vinyl rec. , before cds even became the standard format , i very often decided to listen to a certain rec. ONLY because i saw its cover on the shelf of a rec. store & was intrigued by it & jus' asked myself "how does that rec. sound ?" , so a cover still has an importance , albeit it's certainly not as big as way back then these days anymore !

the question is : will people , who don't know ( or haven't heard much of ) immi , pick up her new album , because they like what they see on its cover !?
as a fan of immi i'm biased , so i can't really answer that question myself , but i can test it out & show people , who've probably never heard of her , the final front cover & ask them , if they would listen to this album , simply because they are intrigued by the way its cover looks like ! Wink

Sense at last! Let's not get carried away here folks, it's the MUSIC that counts, and you'll be hearing some of it very soon!

Upon looking at the cover again at my work computer, I think it looks fantastic! I guess I just have the saturation turned up too much on my own. There's something about it that feels soo.... Real?

Omg, I'm so excited for this album!

It's much better than the first one but.... I stick by my "it doesn't do her justice" comment. Anyway, it definitely is the music that counts, so that's what I'll be judging the album on.

I'm still baffled as to what peoples issues are with the cover, is it not original enough or something? I actually think its way better than S4Y's cover, I megaphones cover, and the cover of details as well. Considering the album is called ellipse, I'm struggling to think of a viable alternate idea for the cover :/

As a designer also, I really like the look as a whole. I will say something about her face does look a bit wonky as it stands (in this photo!). I mean, it might just be odd lighting but it does look a bit like a photoshop job gone slightly awry in the mouth area. But I could be reading WAY too much into it. I did like her wilder hair and less warm lighting on the other version... but as I said I still think it's a cool cover overall. I love the swirly ellipse thingy and there's something about the look on her face.... while it seems slightly strange... that has a certain mystery and quirkiness about it that I like.

yeah i agree with you.
her expression is both warm, welcoming, and mysterious. it'd definitely make me want to buy it to see what it was about if i had no clue who she was Very Happy

designer here, also. and i agree completely. i hate to be negative, but i still don't like the cover.

it wasn't that great the first time around, and i think it looks even a little worse now. she looks very awkward. as much as i liked the ellipse solenoid thing in the beginning, i'm kind of growing tired of the concept now. i'd rather just see a beautiful photo rather than this mess.

there were so many GORGEOUS new shots of immi by jeremy that put this photo to shame. :<

ugh i feel so terrible saying these things, but it's how i feel. well, who cares. the cover doesn't affect the music.

i was looking at it with my perfectionist designer eyes as well, and i usually find that if that doesn't work for me, i should be looking another way. what's that saying, beauty is in the eye of the beholder - if immi and richard see beauty, then so can i!

when i thought of what she's giving us, what that ellipse means, and then looked again... i loved it. that's how i think you're supposed to see it.

I love the idea, it's just the actual photo of her just looks, um ... weird. I think Immi is absolutely gorgeous and I still feel the cover doesn't do her justice. I love the little swirl thing and the background, I just feel Immi's gorgeousness isn't best represented by that photograph. However, it's not a big deal for me as I don't find the cover that important.

Obviously the music is the most important part of the album and I can vouch for it being amazing but at the same time that doesn't mean that the cover can be exempt from criticism. It is in itself, a piece of art, a piece of design, a piece of visual music. So why shouldn't we critise and/or praise it? That is the nature of art.

exactly how i feel. it's all in the photo.

the glowing ellipse looks delicious, and concept is great, and the text is simple and beautiful (DIN ftw!). i just feel like the photograph itself is heavily holding back the overall piece.

She should hold her hands out from her body, her face slightly shadowed, with the whites of her eyes prominent, and the emphasis more on the elliptical glow.

hmmm... Her eyes and body language is pointing forward, except her mouth and nose are slightly tilted towards the left which is giving me an odd feeling.

If you cover the mouth and nose with your finger it actually looks really good! I think the shadow around her mouth is making her look older then she really is and thus making the head not match the body.

and I found a weird optical illusion xD when you stare at the shadow under her chin for long enough it almost looks like her head is not attached to her body.

But I do prefer this one to the other one <3

I love everything about this cover except one thing: the smile. It looks as if it was photoshopped in crooked. Her smile in this picture is not symmetrical to her nose and the rest of the face, making it look fake. It could be because she is half-grinning, but something about it just doesn't look...natural. Then again, this could be her subtle "this-is-gonna-win-me-so-many-Grammy's" look Wink
