"The Moment I Said It" without question. It gives me chills. It's one of the most, maybe the most, hauntingly gorgeous songs I've ever heard. It brings me to tears every time. Her vocal inflections (is that the right word?) are beautiful and they perfectly express the feeling behind each word. "we'll work it all out together" goes through my head over and over again... sometimes out of nowhere. My sister had an incident with her husband a few months ago. I'll never hear this song the same way again.
The moment I said it
the moment I opened my mouth
lead in your eyelids
Bulldozed the life out of me
I know what you're thinking
But darling you're not thinking straight
Sadly things just happen we can't... explain
It's not even light out,
But you've somewhere to be - no hesitation
No I've never seen you like this
And I dont like it, I dont like it, I dont like it at all
Just put back the car keys
or somebody's going to get hurt
who are you calling at this hour
sit down, come round , I need you now
we'll work it all out together
but we're getting no where tonight
now sleep, I promise, it'll all seem better somehow
in time |

I'm going to answer this... with a story!
So, there I was, having just moved into my new apartment and discovered the constantly noisy fridge, the mysterious smell in the bedroom, the seemingly endless stream of bugs pouring from various cracks in the walls... but I digress. I'd also grown bored with most of the music I usually listened to, as it seemed like there was nothing new and exciting to be found out there... but then! My sister sent me a recommendation on last.fm, saying "hey, here's this artist called Imogen Heap, you should check her out", and I vaguely remembered hearing "Come here boy" at some point and thinking "hey, this is pretty good", so I started playing a few of the songs presented by last.fm. The first one was Headlock, and I remember dropping whatever I was doing when the bass kicked in on the second chorus and just listening, everything else forgotten, and wondering why I'd never heard of this strange and wonderful person before, and a few hours later I'd downloaded everything I could find (yes, illegally, but I've bought at least two copies of each of her CDs since, which I think evens it out nicely) and I was hooked. So... Headlock, no question. It's the song that, for me, got everything started |

I think it was Speeding Cras that got me started. Prior to that I hard Frou Frou's 'Holding Out For A Hero' on Shrek 2. I turned to my Mum and said... "I LOVE that song..."
We then proceeded to wait 'til the end of the credits to find the title and artist in the music creditation.
Hooked royally now. |

I find it interesting that unlike in most albums, where you find one or two songs completely dominating the rest, with 40% and 30% of the votes, here there is no song clearly winning.
As of now, The Walk is winning, with only 19% of the overall votes. Hide & Seek is a close second, with 16% of the votes, and The Moment I Said It comes in at 13%. But looking at those numbers, that's only 48% of the total votes, less than half. The rest are divided equally between the rest of the songs, with the lowest song still receiving 2% of the votes, with nine voters choosing it.
What does that tell me? That Immi is awesome, and has done what few artists ever manage to do - produce an album on which every track is actually completely worth listening to!
Way to go!
ps- I have not voted, and will not. My favorite song on the album changes daily, depending on my mood. Some days I'm more into Goodnight and Go, some days it's more Clear the Area, and some days I'm a huge fan of Hide and Seek. So far I've had days where I preferred each one of the songs....so I cannot possibly choose one or the other...Today is a The walk day, but tomorrow (when I will more than likely listen to Immi again, just like yesterday, and the day before....) will probably be different. |

As the rest of you, I had trouble choosing witch song to vote for.. I finally gave my vote to The moment I said it.. I think this song is so powerful. And with beautiful honest vulnerable lyrics. I'm just crazy about the sentence -Bulldozed the life out of me-
I've never experienced an album like this..
When I first got it, my favorite songs were Hide and Seak and Headlock. Then it changed to Clear the Area and The moment I said it..and it just kept going like that!
Some of the songs i didn't even like when I first listened to them.. Fx The Walk.. I didn't like it.. Then suddenly it GOT to me, and now it's one my favorites!
This music just grows on you, and it just keeps getting better... It's so gooood!! |

F'n love holding out for a hero!
Even though it's a cover, it's a great cover and in my opinion, blows the original way out of the water. I kinda wish it was slower though like the original, then again... it's a remix.
Anyways, the debate is definately between Daylight Robbery, The Walk, Hide & Seek, Goodnight & Go, and Headlock lol.
But more towards, Headlock & Daylight Robbery, me thinks.
Hmm... I dont know. This is very hard.
I say...
Daylight Robbery!
But all are equally amazing.
I picked the right choice! woot ^_^ |

You're my new friend!
I've noticed how the collective favourites are 'H&S', 'The Walk' and 'The Moment I Said It' whereas my favourites are 'Headlock', 'Daylight Robbery' and 'Loose Ends'.
Interesting... |

| I absolutely love Headlock. It sounds so twisted. For some reason, I love to listen to it, while I'm having a smoke in the winter behind my parent's house. I especially enjoy the part where Immi shouts in to the microphone in the music vid. This song is pure crack! |

'Closing In' is probably my favourite. It's so flourescent in its execution and the vocals are beautiful.
I hope that you make it... <3 |

After all this time I still don't think I can choose a favorite. I almost immediately want to say "The Walk" but then I think about how I like "Headlock" just as much too, but then also really like "The Moment I Said It," "Goodnight & Go," "Just For Now," and then keeps spiralling until I've named every song. |

Nothing really sticks out for me. I'll just go 'I want to listen to Imogen Heap now' and turn on my iPod and let the songs cycle through, whereas I normally start a playlist where my favorite songs are clustered. But in this case, it's a good thing; as each new song comes up, with only a few exceptions, it becomes my favorite, because I remember the little details or bits of lyric that make it that amazing. XD
However, I sing "Hide and Seek" the most, "Goodnight and Go" was my first favorite, and I'm currently loving the version of "Just For Now" on the KCRW radio show, which was spectacular. <3
But how to vote....? Well, that's a good question. ;D |

Yeah, I'm only likkle, so if I can't spell something or end up saying something that makes no sense, that's just me being likkle.
Anyway, I chose The Moment I Said It even though I absolutely ADORE Hide and Seek and The Walk. Though when I first checked out immi on Deezer I fell totally in love with Loose Ends.
Sorry I'm a very rambly person, but anyways back to The Moment I Said It, I just feel really... really....really.....really.
Indescribable is the only way to say it but still, I LOVE the entire album. |

Vote below and feel free to post why it's your favourite!
My favourite song is "Just for now". I first bumped into Imogen's music on her myspace site by accident and was totally overwhealmed by the beauty and power of this music. This was back in 2006. Months later I was at a solo concert by Tony Levin in Bonn. During the break, the stage crew played a song I got absolutely hypnotised by, and I asked one of them: "By whom is this music?" And he said: "Imogen Heap" (Later I found out it was "Just for now"). At this moment I knew I had discovered a musical treasure, when I first had entered her site on myspace; one you can only find maybe twice in a lifetime. This song makes me feel like I'm suspending in heaven, if it is expressable in words at all. The high, but soft vocals, the whirling sounds, the warmth of the string harmonies, the glittering glissandi, the few piano chords in the middle and then the vocals striking in "get me outta here", absolutely beautiful. |

This was one of the most difficult things I've had to do recently... choosing one (one!) favorite from S4Y. Runners-up include: The Walk, Loose Ends, and The Moment I Said It.
I chose "Closing In"... something about just stuck out to me the first time I listened to the album all the way through. I think it's the dynamics. The beginning starts off so soft, then crescendos into chaotic drums and noise, then drops into the first verse. It's a real rollercoaster... my favorite part is after the second chorus, where the song seems to be finally consistent (the lyrics here are amazing as well), and then the instrumental builds and ends with the final chorus, surrounded by gorgeous strings. And then when the backing vocals say "Closing In" coupled with that piercing piano chord perfectly ends the song....
Whew. I find that when explaining why a certain song is your favorite, listening to that song really helps fuel your passion |

| Actually "Speak For Yourself" is the only album I love that much - every single second of it... So it's really hard to choose a favorite song; for me, it would be a tie between "Loose Ends" as a refreshing uptempo track and "The Moment I Said It", being the most beautiful ballad. I think it would be great to have "Speeding Cars" on the SFY cd; it might be my dearest song of Imogen's... |

I have to admit, 'Clear The Area' is at the top of my list at the moment. I love the following lyrics:
Slowly…darling…nobody means anymore to me than you
If you’re in…baby then I’m in (into this)…with you, always.
Careful…close to the edge…(You’re scaring me)
Fall in to my arms….(away with it all)
Fall…into love…love...
I was thinking of getting the bold text as a tattoo which twists around my arm. |

'Closing In'.
It never gets exhausting. I especially love the vocal runs in the background that kick in around "Please be there, please be there...". |

Thought I might put my 2 cents in, here. Like so many, I've just been cycling through every single song, and thought, every one of these is completely amazing, there's no way I'll be able to decide!
First, I thought of Hide and Seek, whilst cycling, and thought, this is the song that got me aware of this music in the first place. Then Headlock, which I think is completely amazing, and Closing in was also incredible, and though those were the three I thought of most prominently, there were still so many I absolutely loved. There was no way I could choose between them.
Then what happened to be the last song on shuffle, The Walk, came on. And I was thinking... it's this one. It gives me shivers each time I listen to it, without fail, and keeps me holding my breath throughout the entire song. It's dynamic, flowing, and calls attention to every small bit of it. That's why I chose that song to be my favourite. |

| I absolutely love every song on that album to be honest, but The Walk is just..epic. It has got to be one of the best songs ever written. |

right now it's Have You Got It In You, but it changes all the time.
But if Speeding Cars was officially on the album, then it'd be that.
The Walk is also another one that's sometimes a fav (it seems really popular too, based on this thread) |

I chose Hide and Seek.
It's one of the first songs I heard by her, and I instantly fell in love with it. And still, it's probably my favourite song ever. |

I'm surprised so many people chose The Walk - that really is awesome ^^
It's a three way tie between Clear the Area, Headlock, and The Walk for me. Those are perfection.
I adore Just For Now, Have You Got it in You, and Closing In, but those are more seasonal/situational pieces for me (Holidays, Homework/Drawing/Vid Games, and Driving, respectively).
Goodnight and Go, Loose Ends, The Moment I Said It are ones that I can not listen to for a long time and then get randomly obsessed with.
I Am In Love with You, Daylight Robbery, and Hide and Seek are ones I can always listen to. Not absolute favorites, but still greatness with lyrics that always pop in my head at some point for no reason at all. |

I would have to say Hide & Seek. Oddly enough I was learning "Watcha Say" by Jason DeRulo for a dueling piano gig and wanted to hear the song that he'd sampled. I'd heard it on the SNL spoof of the OC but had never heard the original before. It opened a door that has not closed since. H&S was really my gateway to Immi and I still get a flutter in my stomach at the end of Loose Ends cause I know that Hide and Seek is the next tune up. There really is nothing else like it. I am desperately sad that she's not able to come to western Canada where I live but hopefully I will be able to make my way to one of her shows on a future tour.
Interesting side note, I am not sure which version of Hide and Seek I like best, the original or the "Song's For Tibet" version. Its amazing how the same song could be rendered so differently by the same artist... she truly inspires me.
Close runners up would be: Headlock, Goodnight and Go, and The Walk |

I hope Imogen will play this song live (solo) on piano coz there are already some great piano parts in the album version....
very intense song
My favourite is Closing In, with Headlock as my second choice. I also love vocoding so of course Hide and Seek. The best Imogen Solo video is G & G! |
