What are your favourite artists (that aren't mainstream)?

I am looking for some new music, something fresh.
Any genre, something a bit different, maybe instrumentals.
Sort of like hidden gems.

Also what's your favourite song?

Cheers everybody Smile

There are already threads about this subject but I'll reply anyway.

My favorite artists right now are BT and Elliot Minor.

Martyn Bennett is also a very good artist in terms of celtic fusion music. And of course Imogen Heap/Frou Frou.

There are so many new artists out there. Jo De La Rosa, you may remember her on TV, just released an album yesterday. It's pretty good if you like Hip Hop Pop.

Well there are so many off topics in this matter that posting on those topics are pointless and will just get ignored most likely. Unless they get stickied it would be a waste of time to try and find it. Okay yeah great music to recommend. I'm gunna be here for a while.

Meg's List Of Songs To Listen to:

Nicole Atkins (Brooklyn's On fire) She was an In store Play and I really liked the song. Its a fun song.

Eisley (Taking Control & Go Away) Um a little more common type of music but they are good.
A Fine Frenzy (Ranger, Almost Lover, Think Of You & Liar, Liar) Incredible Voice Incredible Music. Different, unique positively amazing. One of the artists i recommend most.
Blue Stone (Entire Collection is amazing and If that doesn't take your breath away the CD artwork will) Very soothing and captivating.
Sleeptheif (Same as above) Amazing music but not as great as Blue Stone so if you chose one I'd choose blue stone.
Colbie Caillat (Bubbly) Bubbly is a cute song although most of you have probably heard it already.
Kazzer (Pedal To the Medal) Just a fun song that will make you dance.
Placebo (Running Up that hill) So enthralling I love everything about that song and the way they did it.
Delta Goodrem (In This Life) Its a really good song that you can sing to.
Ellie Lawson (Entire Cd) Besides Immi I'd have to say she is the most distinct artist. Her music is completely unique in every sense. She is not an artist to be off your ipod.
Kt Tunstall (Anything by her Black Horse and Cherry Tree is my fav) Also very distinct and her music is very fun.
Marie Digby (Umbrella & Stupid For You) A little more common then Eisley but she is good. I like Stupid For you, it kind of reminds me of that stupid cupid song.
Moonpools and Caterpillars (Hear, Heaven & Koo Koo Koo) Amazing band that broke up a long time ago though but they are available for download thankfully.
Brandi Carlile (What Can I Say) Also a bit on the common side but she has a great melody on that song.
Caesars (Jerk It Out) Just a fun song you already probably heard of.

Pls Don't ask why I did colors. I'm not so sure myself.

Tho not particulary new but awesome as well, Milosh.... go listen to him...
His new album "iii" (which cover was made by none other than Ryan Obermeyer) is amazing, it was recorded in Thailand, it's elegant, nostalgic and full of awesome sounds.
Very Happy

It's been roughly 40 seconds into his myspace profile first song, and I am hooked. Who is this strange man with the beautiful sounds?

Haha, thanks for pointing him out... ohhh its getting better.

LOVE IT

Great taste! I probably have about 80% of those songs in my playlist:P and exactly for the reasons why you described them.

To me the most exciting new artist to come along in quite some time is Vienna Teng. Just her and a piano, keeping it simple yet so elegant.

I love 'Green Island Serenade.' Smile http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HT1AYmGwQlQ
